Pat,

Put me down for an X on my post about  Mountain Ridge clubhouse.

I have zip, nadda, nil.    Was going from memory on the Wendehack book.    I looked at the book over the weekend, and it was the other famous golf course   Ridge   in northern New Jersey,   Ridgewood,  which clubhouse was designed by and illustrated in Wendehack's book.   Got my  Mountain before the Wood.

Regrets, John

I believe the only substantive change since the clubhouse was built in 1930 was the addition of a grille room at the northeast corner of the clubhouse.

The setting of the clubhouse, high up on the ridge, affording a view of the golf course and mountains to the West to NW to N, which is quite stunning.

Pat,
Quite a stunning clubhouse, but much different looking in 1932.

Here's a modern day aerial. Fifth photo on the page, click on it and it goes large.

You're confusing the front and the back of the clubhouse.
The picture below is the FRONT of the clubhouse which looks exactly the same today as it did in 1932

Jim, you'll be happy to know that a good number of trees have been removed subsequent to the above aerial being taken.

Sept. 27th is the first round of stroke play at the men's and women's mid ams. Hopefully Slonis, Cupit, I and a few others will be playing the Atlantic and the Bridge that week! And of course JVB will be domionating the rules discussions at the lunch table.

M. Davis doesn't go to the mid ams much (though he was staff person in charge at one time)- I imagine he's pretty burned out by then. But since this one is close to home you probably should ask him ASAP.

Jim,

They were.

And, they continue to be busy.

Bill Brightly will be playing there tomorrow and can comment on what he finds.

I had the pleasure of playing with Pat and two other fine amateurs today. (I am a 5 hdcp, and this is the first time in a LONG time that I was both the youngest and worst golfer in a foursome!)

Mountain Ridge is simply a fabulous course that is in superb condition. The greens are a perfect combination of fast and firm, yet hold a well struck shot. They could hold a US Senior Open or US Womens Open tomorrow.

It is a great Ross course with his classic bunkering placement and style. The routing is superb. They are well into a restoration led by Ron Pritchard. GCA guys will love the day as you will see what Ron has done (most notably some awesome green reclamation & collection areas) , and then we'll get a chance to add our two cents and tell Ron what else he might do! :)

There is also a potential GCA mystery to be solved. More on that and Mucci swing pictures to follow.

Bill,

It was a delightful afternoon.

Great golf course, great weather and great company.

I think I'll be able to make an announcement shortly that will enhance every attendees experience at Mountain Ridge.

I just hope Mother Nature co-operates.

P.S.  I'm sticking with that putter grip as I rolled it pretty well again.

The preliminary agenda for the outing is as follows.

The cost of the event is $ 100 per participant.

Each participant will get a very nice golf shirt, logoed for the 2012 USGA Senior Amateur and Mountain Ridge's 100th Anniversary.

Continental Breakfast,
Buffet lunch,
Golf
Cocktails
Heavy Hors D Oeuvres

The tentative agenda will be:

  8:00  Breakfast
  8:30  Brad Klein
  9:30  Ron Prichard
10:30  Cliff Moore
11:30  Guest speaker
12:30  Lunch
  1:30 Tee off
  6:00  Cocktails & Hors D Oeuvres

If the/a guest speaker is unavailable, the program will be moved up an hour.

Due to the time of year, we'll have to limit the golf field to 96 players.

TEPaul, myself and others will step aside and not play if we have to accomodate more golfers.

I'll update everyone in 7 to 10 days.

This looks great, Pat.  Thank you again for organizing.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Pat, it may be a little early for this, but should we organize groups/games amongst ourselves, as you had us do for Hidden Creek, or will we be registering with the Pro Shop or the Manager and then they'll group us.

Also, please advise on payment.

Thanks again for hosting this!

We've had a slight price increase of $ 20, but, I can assure you, you'll get improved value for every penny.

Please send your checks in the amount of $ 120, payable to Patrick Mucci Jr, to

Kim Fitzgerald
C/O  Mucci Companies
Suite 201
1135 Clifton Ave
Clifton, NJ  07013

The field for golf may be limited to 84-100 golfers, depending upon the size of the response for those attending.
Some, like TEPaul, will not play golf.

I'll determine participation as the field swells, and, I'll notify everyone of their status on this thread.

I'll try my best to accomodate everyone.

We may even arrange for Sunday or Tuesday golf at a number of quality courses, including Banks courses.
