at Mountain Ridge, the venue for the 2012 USGA Senior Amateur.

The exact date and speakers have yet to be determined, but, it will be on a Monday, sometime between mid-September to Mid-October.  The most probable date is September 27th.

Once the date has been confirmed, I'll invite a number of speakers such as Brad Klein, Tom Doak, Ron Prichard, Bill Coore, Geoff Shackelford and others.

I'm open to any and all suggestions with respect to speakers.

Brad Klein's presentations are always great, laced with terrific information, wit and visuals.
And, nobody knows Ross like Brad and Ron Prichard.
Hopefully, the date will work for Brad, Ron and the others.

Cliff Moore, the extraordinary young Superintendent will be one of the presenters.
TEPaul and Ran can attest to the quality of Cliff's work and his future plans.
Ron Prichard has drafted a new five (5) year plan for Mountain Ridge and he can speak to that and other issues.

I'm also open to suggestions for program topics.

Those who have attended the previous get togethers can attest to the quality of the speakers and the host sites.

Mountain Ridge is a spectacular golf course that enjoys a great setting.

The format is presentations in the morning, lunch, then golf, with drinks and hors d oeuvres afterward.

As the "get together" develops, I'll keep you posted.

Thanks, hope I can make it.

I'd like to suggest that you give a short talk about any topic of your choice - perhaps your experiences in competitive golf in the NY metro area or your experiences at Boca Rio or whatever.

Eric Bergstol (sp?) might be another interesting speaker.

Pat,

Thanks for coordinating and consider me likely to attend.

Also, if enough people ask, I'm happy to give a presentation.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

George,

Eric's work at Bayonne is astounding.

A presentation about Bayonne would be fascinating.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Pat -

that sounds terrific... I'd love the opportunity to actually attend one of these things!!!

Since we're talking about a Ross course... what about a trying to get a "panel" of Ross restoration "experts".  In addition to Prichard, you could go after/invite Ron Forse, Kris Spence (who's done a lot of work on Ross' Carolina courses), Dan Schlegel (his work  at San Jose CC in Jacksonville was well-received), to name a few.  They could talk about their individual takes on Ross elements, etc.

Just a thought...

Very generous of you Mr. Mucci.  I assume you're not a member anymore at the club on Ratzer Road?
I'll begin prepping the wife for the green light.

Hopefully Ron Prichard can attend.  He's the best and would love to hear him discuss the course' five-year plan.

Pat,

Count me in as well if there is room.  I'll bring Clifford's book and we can discuss clubhouse architecture if golf course pronouncements wane.

Pat-

Thank you for doing this.  I was at Hidden Creek (five years ago already!) and I would like to attend this.

Coming from my past life in Club Management, I wonder out loud if a discussion about clubs in this economy and how to maximize maintenance and member/player experience would be fruitful and interesting for many here who may be members of private clubs.  In tough economic times, unfortunately, the architecture and maintenance is often one of the first things to go, often to free up cash to prop up the restaurant, banquet facilities, etc.  This is not necessarily a good thing for fans of architecture, but it is a fact of life.

It's always interesting to hear from a club President or Green Chair about building the consensus to undertake a project such as this.
In contrast to Hidden Creek, which is I think a non-equity club (I may be mistaken), I think MR is an equity club.  Both approaches would be drastically different and educational to understand better.

But it's your event.  These are just some ideas.
