Much like the pro grind, speak with them after six months...what seems like a dream, turns into a chore, then a pain, then a mare.  There's more sacrifice here than one might ever imagine.

Is the First Tee fundraising tied to the courses?  So far it looks like $20 per course per player.

Er, I thought these ladies were...

 ;D  ::)

Thats one hell of a trip, but there must come a point of sensory and memory overload? It would be great to be able to walk away from playing Riviera and remembering each hole in detail, rather than trying to remember if that great long par 3 towards the start of a round was at Riviera or was it Bel Air?  ???

All for a good cause though, so hats off to them!

Cheers,

James

I love golf, but a month of playing and travelling every day is hard enough.  This story makes me positively ill.  I give them a lot of credit, obviously, but more goes to their "other halves" who are listed as the "golf widows".  They must be great women.

I don't know how they are funding this trip - if they are paying their own way at courses or if people are sponsoring them - but if their fundraiser count is accurate on the web site and they've raised only $5k to $6k through half the year it seems like they could have done more for the First Tee by simply donating the money spent on the trip.  I suppose it depends upon whether the fundraising was the primary goal or just a secondary thought.

puregolf2010 is a story about the Kiwi ethos.  It was born out of a desire to challenge ourselves, and a challenge it certainly will be.  But we're up for it.

Pretty funny. Perhaps next year's challenge will be to date a different supermodel each night...whose ethos would that be? :)

Ultimately I'd rather do what Lorne did and spend a season in Dornoch. But hats off to them, they're living their dream.
Big drivers and hot balls are the product of golf course design that rewards the hit one far then hit one high strategy.  Shinny showed everyone how to take care of this whole technology dilemma. - Pat Brockwell, 6/24/04
