I played Yale on Sunday (with Mike Sweeney and Lou Duran) and noticed they've added a few more bells at the back end of the blind shots. I personally got to ring at least 2, and it was the highlight of my day (which says something about my game). The course with the most bells in my experience is Tobacco Road, which has a bunch.
My home course in St. Catharines has three bells - before the bells, we had huge mirrors on 30 foot poles so you could see over the crest of the hills to see if things were clear. I think they pulled those out about five years ago. They were kind of cool, now that I think about it
There are five blind approaches at Shiskine, but I think only one of them is governed by a bell. There are also flags, switches, and all manner of little devices. There are at least that many blind approaches at Machrie, but I don't recall that any of them had any sort of "all clear" device [in 1983]. Fortunately it's not usually that busy.
