Quite a lot of golf architecture
« on: April 30, 2013, 08:11:44 PM »
Gentlemen,

As I mentioned on another thread Frank Pont's idea of having a list of "interesting" threads made available, for study purposes as an example, struck a chord with me. Below is an HTML link and .doc link to about 500 GCA threads that I have compiled. These threads are interesting to me but I am not suggesting that they are the kernel of GCA threads by any manner of means but may make a start for any student or fellow tragic.

My idea is/was to go over the threads and sift them for the ideas and counterpoints that the good denizens of this site have been promulgating. From there I was going to construct an essay on golf course architecture for my own fun and learning exercise! Chuckling here as the project is going very slowly! I have also noticed that a lot of what I would be writing has already been inscribe by others more worthy! A plug for Ian Andrew's blog page here.

A couple of things.

My understanding is that this HTML list, once downloaded from my Dropbox public folder, should be able to be IMPORTED into your web-browser.  There are a number of "personal" bookmarks at the beginning of the list which you can junk when it is in your browser.

My categorisation of the threads is really "Colinese" like and may bear no relationship as to how you may want to categorise things.  So do not be too harsh on me!!!!

Each threads title can be seen and a click (double-click?) will bring up the thread in GCA.

The second .doc link is the same material (without my rubbish!) in a Word doc format if you cannot be bothered with the HTL/Web one.

Hoping all this works and that it is of fun/use to any who care for it.

Cheers Colin

That is really neat, Colin.

Thanks a lot for sharing.

It's reminded me too that Patrick really needs to continue on his enchanted journey.

Excellent work Colin.

Thanks.

Colin,

A timely posting, thank you. Much to chew on in your links and I do love reruns. Do you guys have Matlock in Australia?

Colin --

As we say here, in the Great American Heartland:

Holy cow!

Well done.

Of course, to find my own worthwhile "contributions" (if any), someone will have to catalog all of the OT threads. All emoticons eschewed.

Thanks.

Colin:

That's a terrific piece of work, thanks for making it available to everyone.

I'm a little surprised the current "Why are you afraid to post under your real name?" thread hasn't made it into your "NAVEL GAZING" list... ::)

It is too bad GCA isn't in foreign languages... for they could benefit most from this site. There is so much tremendous info... an encyclopedia of thought about the subject.
