I only just saw this thread.  Thank you Mike B., for posting that photo of Sir Boab, I think it really captures his persona and essence.  The times I have been with Bob, I actually felt like those kids appear, welcome and under the wings of the great man.

I am the friend of another great man very similar to Bob in many ways and had the pleasure of introducing them on a golf trip to Wild Horse, and an evening of steaks and wine and wonderful conversation.  They were both in Korea and had an instant sort of short hand set of phrases and sayings about those days and became quick friends.  Bob had Steve out to the Shore Course later on.  So, I just told my other friend (Steve the Marine Corps Major, Ret - same age as Bob) of the health news.  His reply was "don't worry, he is one tough old soldier".

Huck, please IM me the address.

No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

A few years ago -- without ever having met him -- I sent an IM to Bob about a funny story regarding my father, a business deal, and a certain Monterey Bay golf course. He could not have been nicer in hearing about the story, and relating a few anecdotes about a member of a club we both knew.

One of the true gentleman of this site, or anywhere, I'm guessing. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to Bob and his family for a speedy recovery and a return to the links.

On the Who Are You Guys Really thread, Bob must have read my updated profile that I posted after I moved to the Bay Area.  He sent me a message asking me to contact him when I came down to Monterey.  Unsolicited.  And he doesn't know me from Adam.  I still have not met him personally.  Given the effusive praise most any poster has after meeting most any other poster on this board in person, it's noteworthy that Bob stands out among what is already a fine group of people.  Hopefully he will be back to full speed soon!

Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Bob's tremendous generosity has literally made a lot of golfers' dreams come true and I could never repay Bob for all he has done for me.

Thanks Bob, and best wishes on a full recovery.

I had the honor of playing two days of golf with Bob a few years ago at Sand Hills. A grand gentlemen and a friend.

Bob, our collective prayers go out to you. You will beat this setback.

God be with you, Sir Bob

Bob,

What are you thinking about ?

You can't let things like blood clots in the legs, lungs, and arterial fibrillation get in the way of your golf game.

These annoyances are just bumps in the road, and GOLF is the best medicine.

Get the best physicians possible, think positively, and remember to keep your thumbs to the sky and you'll be cursing those 3 footers before you know it.

Sir Bob,
Our prayers are with you and given my wife's current status as a Divinity School student I believe you are in good hands. Get well soon my friend.

When my brain is down to its last golf memory it will be the day I sat in the Royal and Ancient clubhouse writing a letter to Herb Wind thanks to your incredible kindness.
