Tom Huckaby

A man very very dear to many of the participants here, Bob Huntley.  His wife Leslie asked that the word be passed along that he is in the hospital with blood clots in his leg and lungs and arterial fibulation.  Today a procedure is being done to try to slow the heart to the normal beat.  This is serious.

On a personal note, of course Bob is a private and modest man, so I know Bob would not want much posted here about this.  This was just the best way I could think of to get the word out to this small part of the golf world, to which he means so much.  Please do keep him and all his family in your thoughts and prayers.

The above is also all I know at this time.

Thanks.

Tom Huckaby

Good luck, and I wish Bob and family all the best and full and speedy recovery.

Our little on line community has been relatively blessed with only a few serious health problems reported.  When they occur, it makes me think first of how we come to think of such former strangers as friends, and second how petty most of our arguments with those friends here really are.

It is a nice little circle of life we have here. Uncle Bob gave my son a set of his old irons about a year or so ago. This weekend, Lou Duran is playing with his son at Yale with me and due to plane logistics, he will most likely borrow my son's/Uncle Bob's clubs at Yale.

I expect to see/hear about Bob back on the course before The Open at St Andrews!

Will do.

I don't know Bob personally but I value his knowledge and insight, and I've heard many nice things about him from other posters. I wish him the best in a fast recovery.

Best of luck Bob! :)

Tom

Thanks for the info.

Positive vibes for a man much respected.
Speedy recovery as we have a long list of unfinished discussions on GCA
i.e.
The merits of the R&A,
Is American Golf even worth the ride to the club before riding the course?
Should Island Green have boats for hire to assist the course raise funds?
If the old Gutta Percha ball floated why did the rubber core ball sink – cock-up in the manufacturing process or a clever marketing ploy?
Do carts improve ones posture (as they are not much use for anything else, apparently)
And many more topics besides.

Melvyn

PS Am looking forward to a pint and a chat in St Andrews. I’ll even buy the first round!
