Praise for Lester George's Work on the Old White

Don't know if this has already been on the board but it's nice to see a contributor gets some kudos from the mainstream media.

I noticed some praise for this work on pgatour.com today. And also general praise about the architectural quality of courses on the tour this year. ANCG and Pebble as always, St. Andrews, and the newly added (perhaps temporary) Aronimink, St. Georges, The Old White and then Ridgewood for the Barclays.

I had the opportunity to walk the old white a few weeks ago. It was in superb shape and i imagine only has improved as the tournament approached. I did not see the original before Lesters work, but I really enjoyed seeing the course, and thought highly of the course that we did see.
I am very interested to see what kinda scores the pros will shoot. I think if they get the greens running fast, it will be a challenging weekend of putting for them.

I have played the Old White before and after Lester's work and can say that it is 100% better after Lester left. I loved it before, but he made it even more fun. The pros will still eat it up, but it will be fun to watch.

They probably will shoot low, its playing barely 7000 yards, thats not much for those guys, short really. As far as the 18th green, I've only seen it in pictures; whats wrong with it? Looks like a shortish par 3 with an interesting green to me.

I'm pretty excited to see this course on tv over the next few days.  For sure, this year has been a great one for seeing the pros playing great golf courses.
