Does anyone have some good examples of course tours to share? Looking to add one to our site and would appreciate some feedback.
Thanks!

Royal County Down has a very good course tour, so you should take a look at theirs.

Trevose GC's tour is pretty special. Includes a video fly-over of each hole!

I like Ballyneal's, it has a Don Placek drawing and one or more photos of each hole, along with Tom Doak's description of that hole.

I very much agree.

I don't like the flyovers nearly as well as still images, though it's much improved if they are actual flyovers and not the computer-generated type.

I also enjoy the tour of WeKoPa, which is really just a reproduction of their yardage book, but one I quite like as a way to give two impressions of the hole.

As a person in the software industry, I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend that you do not use Adobe Flash for course tours.

This is something both Microsoft and Apple can agree on.

That's funny. My brother-in-law, the computer graphics artist, highly recommends Flash. What business did you say you were in Richard?

I agree with Steve Jobs that Flash is unsecure, unstable, and not open. Many of the zombie machines in existence today were through Flash vulnerabilities. You can create great course tours without it. Don't force people to install something that they don't want to.

And based on the target market, I would think the golf courses would want to be iPad and iPhone friendly.

Using photosynth and 3D tools, you can create hole by hole tours like these:

http://www.3dgolfcourse.com/2010/02/06/3d-golf-course-torrey-pines-hole-3/

That would be neat to have on course tours, especially if it is interactive so that I can see the hole from many angles.

As someone who knows next to nothing about software, I also agree with Richard.  I've rarely seen Flash enhance the interface. Some cool effects, but no improvement in usability and it slows things down.
