It would be the biggest 21st birthday party if Rors wins at Quail Hollow! Especially in Belfast

Great performance and a genuinely nice guy. I met him at an event in the UK last year and spoke to him. He heard my Northern Ireland accent and stopped and chatted for a minute without any hurry. I also spoke to a guy who played with him in the pro-am at the same event and they said he was great to play with.

Flippin' 'eck! when was the last time someone won closing with 6 3's in a row - this was phenomenal for someone who is 20 going 21. Could he win a major at 21?

OMG!

He had twelve 3's???

What a weekend!  He was one over after two rounds, just made the cut then went 16 under for the weekend.  On a tough course, mind you.

This can only be good for the game.  These young guys are really coming on strong.

Congratulations to Rory...Golf needs some stars.  It seems that at the top its the weakest in my memory.  Anthony Kim looks to be the real thing but not a fan....  BTW heard on the telecast that  Ryo Ishikawa shot a 58... Course was a par 70, 6500 yards, but a 58 in competition at the age of 18 or any age is quite incredible...

Ryo Ishikawa shot 58 today on a par-70 course to win a tournament in Japan. Not too bad either. Nice see some young blood making its mark.

As we all can see, he is a great talent  and he interviews really well.

This is a great result for golf.

How'd Tiger do again???

WHO CARES!  62 is crazy.  With a lip out on 17 as well!  Awesome.

Well he's not married, but he did say he was going to call his girlfriend "Holly" after the round.

Let's hope her name is actually Holly.... ;)

Nice, someone young and fresh to root for instead of an angry spoiled brat!!!!!!!!!!

Keep winning young man and be the anti-Tiger
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

I loved it... Did you see Paddy Harrington (wearing a T-shirt and shorts, God forbid) welcome and congrtulate Rory after the round?  Very classy indeed!

Great to see a bunch of guys hanging around to congratulate Rory. He signed my 14 year old son`s hat at the Wed practice round at Beth Page last year and could not have been more gracious. 62 on Sunday at a tournament like this certainly makes a statement while dusting off the likes of PM, Kim and Cabrera. Very easy to like and to root for. Go Irish. :)

Finally the PGA Tour has a Rory who is a great player AND a great person  ;) !

As a twenty-two-year-old myself, I cannot even begin to imagine how incredible it must be to win at twenty. Rory's swing is incredible, and it seems as though his mental approach is as mature as someone twice his age. I'm really interested to see whether this win will trampoline him to many more victories in the not-so-distant-future or whether he will bask in it and we won't see him back in the winner's circle for some time. I sure hope it is the former! Go Rors!

That has to be one of the most impressive closing rounds in the last decade.  That back nine was flawless, you could even tell all the announcers were speechless at how good it was.

We saw him as a very confident 18 yr old at the Walker Cup at County Down, you just knew he was going to be a winner.

After hearing Nantz being interviewed just after the Masters, it is obvious he is somewhat 'over' Tiger. It was also pretty clear he was overjoyed McIlroy won, as were the rest of the CBS clan.

What a golf swing! A thing of pure beauty.

About a month ago, one of the young lads who works in 'a golf shop' in St Andrews and who played against him as a junior, told me he knew Rory was going to win - and soon. Wish I'd had a few bob on him!

I had read somewhere that Rory's father and a few friends had bet "X amount" with bookkeepers when Rory was 15.  The bet was that Rory would win the Open by age 25.  I wonder what the odds were?

I wonder how long it has been since:

1)  Somebody makes the cut on the number and wins.
2)  Somebody makes the cut on the number and wins by four.

Just like Marty says, did you see McIlroy's swing on some of those shots?  Sheesh.  What balance and grace.

From now on I'll be rooting hard for two non Americans to win majors:

Rory and Lee Westwood

(Except in the Ryder Cup)!
