Im a new member and thought i would introduce myself.
« on: April 26, 2010, 10:39:18 PM »
Hello GCA,

My name is Justin Harvey. I'm a 22 year old college student living in Kent, Washington (25 minutes south of Seattle) I work at the local municipal golf course (Riverbend), and briefly caddied at Chambers Bay in the summer of 2007. I was fortunate enough to caddy for Jay Blasi as he and Bradley Klein did his playing review of Chambers Bay. Ever since then i have been reading the discussion board and the beautiful and detailed course reviews to get as much information as i can about golf course architecture. I have learned alot from you guys already and look foward to putting my two cents in and contributing to the board. Also looking foward to attending my first GCA event when that comes along. I hope to start giving my thoughts on all the local courses that I play. While not as spectacular as the legendary courses discussed on here, I think every course has a little bit to offer. Looking foward to being part of GCA.

Who cares about Jay Blasi. Did you meet Jordan Wall while caddying at CB?

Sorry Jay. Just kidding. ;)

Justin,

Welcome! I played CB in the summer of '08 and fell in love with the place. I'll never forget the feeling of walking from the parking lot to the pro shop, and stopping in my tracks when the view down to the course opened up. You must have had some outstanding experiences at CB. Have fun...

Before reading Tom Paul's posts remember the theme tune to "The Longest Day" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ7hYEJt2UY) then read his post, they are much like the film, so you have been warned

Welcome to your Longest Days with GCA.com

Yeah that is one of my favorite holes at CB the 10th. The dunes are great at disguising the wind and I constantly had to tell my players to hit more club because the approach was uphill and into the hidden wind. Nice small angled green guraded by two small bunkers one in front and one in back. Really one of my favorites at CB including the 6th and 16th.

Welcome.

If you want to meet some us, head up to the Sagebrush outing in August.  You're not too far away and it promises to be a great time.

"Justin:

Justin:

The deal is if you want a post graduate course in GCA always listen to me and never to Mucci. If you only want a Kindergarten education in GCA then listen to Pat Mucci.

On the other hand, if you want to spend about a month trying to talk the police or a judge out of a $20 parking ticket, then Pat Mucci is your man!

Justin, welcome to the treehouse. Perhaps a round with two new Seattle area members are in order (the other one being Brent). Let me know if you are interested.

PLEASE don't bring out the brush tee the first time you play with him. Don't want to scare off the young lad. ;)

Perhaps I can kill two birds with one stone by invading the Leary sanctuary (aka Aldarra) with my big ol' oversized brush tee with Justin and Brent. I was thinking about heading there this week or next anyway :)

I would wait 'til at least next week as the greens aren't quite back yet after aeration. However brush tees are not allowed on the course, so they might kick you off.  ;)

Justin,

Whats up man, welcome to the site.  Don't know if you went to HS in Kent, but I know a lot of people out there so I wouldn't be surprised if we knew some of the same people.

I'm in Lynnwood, so a bit North of you, but I'm 20 and have been on this site for about five years.  It's a great place, you'll come to love it and learn a lot from the people on here.

If your schedule is open and you'd like to play, send me a pm.

I'd also look into the Sagebrush outing in August.  There will be lots of gca'ers there and it will be a great time.  The course looks fantastic.  Granted, the host is a little crazy, but I think we can work around that.
 ;D

Welcome, Justin.

Cheers,
Jordan

ps where are you going to school?
