In a few weeks I am playing The Oaks, anyone played there and have any feedback on the course?

Sam I played there a few times over the years. I have not played it post katrina though. I always treat it as a Doak 4 or 5. It is a good but not great course. I enjoyed it except for tight lines certain holes. It was one of the 2 or 3 best in the area, now it is more a top 6ish. cheers and enjoy Tiger

Thanks Tiger, I have a few other rounds set-up in the Biloxi area but what would you recommend on the drive back from Biloxi to Houston?

I played The Oaks pre-Katrina  I agree with Tiger's assessment I love playing Grand Bear in Saucier  Its in the middle of DeSoto National Forrest  You really have the feeling of seclusion  Its reasonably priced, too
“Bandon Dunes is like Chamonix for skiers or the
North Shore of Oahu for surfers,” Rogers said. “It is
where those who really care end up.”

Sam I would tell you to stop and play in Lafayette to play Oakbourne CC. but I am layed upin recovery mode for a month or two. I am glad you are playing a few more in the area for Fallen Oak, Grand Bear, The Davis Love course and Jerry Pates course are all pretty good. The Bluffs is not bad but given the financial condition I would not bet on good conditions. Country Club of La, Baton Rouge CC and Grey Plantation are all in the good but not great group to play. It is a great time of the year to be on the Gulf Coast you will have a good time.

I might play Oakbourne on Saturday afternoon with a mutual friend of ours.

The fact that I didn't get a text from you hurts, you know I love carts and I love camo. Morrow's on this side of the pond think it's still golf if you ride.

That is awesome, can I bring a rifle and throw it on back? Was the course in good shape?

I would give it a while...the greens were pretty rough.  Everything else was more than playable.

Don't you wish your bag was camo too?

Sam, Oakbourne is in great shape now, however the greens are to be punched fairly soon. I would pass on Atchafalya. With all due respect to Kyle, it does not do much for me. There is plenty of poor Van Haage in Houston without coming over here. Please excuse the typoes but the pain medicine is working pretty good. I find it hard to say but the TPC in New Orleans will be fun next week just because of being in Tournement conditions.

Not going to break my heart.  Atchafalaya is nothing more than the best thing to do while attending a meeting in Morgan City.
