If Tiger played at Harbor Town ...
« on: April 15, 2010, 07:56:21 PM »
I think he would win quite often.

I say that because of his play at Royal Liverpool at the Open in 06.

He beats himself when he hits his driver.

I was just talking to someone on this board about Tiger smoking people at HT.  It would be a a shot makers delight for him.

If Tiger played HT, perhaps Verizon would be staying on as the sponsor.

He'd be in the trees all day muttering obsenities to himself
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

I have always felt that if Steve Williams handed Tiger the club on every par 4 and 5, and only let him hit the driver when Stevie thoufht it best,  he'd score better...True of most pros, IMO

Even he couldn't miss the fairway on 18. Actually, he probably could. It's only 100 yards wide ;)

Steve Jones did.   Hit it out of bounds right with a chance to win.  Did He win?  Can't remember.  (edit) Payne Stewart ended up winning.
I DO remember that when he hit it, his only reaction was to put out his right hand and ask for another ball.
I was amazed at his calm
I'm comfortably certain my reaction would have been, ummm, different ::)

Yeah, my reaction would probably have been a little more colored as well. But then again, it depends on how bad the shot was. Sometimes I hit shots so terrible that I don't even bother being irritated, they're just that bad. Its only the semi-horrible shots that I get mad at.

I would have to agree with this logic. Also the greens are so small they favor a player with a great game around the green.

The kind of golf course Tiger Woods can't win on will probably never be built.

Sam,
Yep - it's been built...   Delaware Park Municipal Golf Course, Buffalo NY....  One of the worst I've ever seen.   He'd get flustered by the 5-6 stimp readings.

Indeed, make him play at some of the dumpy old courses I used to play. He'd have no chance. Bad lies in the fairway, poor bunkers, etc. Yeah, he'd get too irritated.

No matter the course the best will find a way to make it work.

Both the ratings and the OT posts here would be up by 30%

  Bill,

I can think of only one other caddy at Harbor Town that would be better for Tiger.

not sure he would win... he doesn't play well at Riviera either where you have to be patient and work the ball.
