Hello,
My name is Keith O'Halloran, and I am another new guy on the web site. Like many others, I have been reading and learning here for a while, and finally requested a password just in case I have something to offer.
 I caddied at Cherry Valley in Garden City in High School, and worked the bag room at Starmount Forest in Greensboro NC during college, yet it wasn't until I a few years ago when I read Mr. Bahto's book,(and then several others) that I took an interest in the architect's intention and work. I definately feel like appreciating architecture helps in both playing and enjoying golf.
As far as my personal tastes, I am lucky enough to be able to say that I have played Shinnecock and Sand Hills, and I am not sure if I will ever play better courses.
So thanks for all your contibutions, they have already helped. I am not sure if I will have much to add to some of these discussions, but if I do, at least I can.

Hey Keith! Welcome mate.

One bit of advice to you (that has been passed down to me by Melvyn) is, don't be intimidated by some of the fellas on here. Feel free to post and ask questions. Your opinion matters just as much as theirs.

A couple of questions mate.

How old are you?
Where did your interest in GCA come from? From that book?
What do you for a career?
Etc..

I am a 35 year old attorney, I practice mostly criminal defense. My wife and I currently live on the East End of Long Island and I am a member of SOuthampton Golf Club. I know Dr. greco and Dave Greene who are also members of Southampton and this site.  As of now, we have no kids, so I have been traveling, and playing as much as possible. As far as courses go, as I have said, Sand Hills has blown me away, but I also enjoyed Chambers Bay (minus the conditions that day) and Pumpkin Ridge. Heading to Bandon Dunes for the first time this month.
As far as my interest, I have always loved golf, and the books have really peaked my curiosity and helped me to appreciate golf to another level.

Welcome and G'day Keith,  I am also a recently re-joined keen member of GCA. I still find it intimidating with all the knowledge and experience on here, but endlessly helpful in learning as much as I/we can about this amazing thing that is golf, golf course design and architecture. So, often with the risk of making a fool of myself, I post to learn and question - I love it.

Are you a regular golfer at your club - or do you travel and play - or both?
