That Empty Feeling
« on: March 31, 2010, 04:14:09 PM »
After reading the recent tread on Golden Horseshoe, I was struck by how John K. Moore was left undecided about what he thought of the course. I was instantly reminded of a course I played not so long ago, Concra Wood in Co. Monaghan. Has anyone else on this site played the course? If so I would be interested to hear your thougts on it. It is surrounded by stunning scenery and has some really good holes (the sixth is a shortish biarritz with a kicker mound short right to name one), but i was left with the feeling that there was something missing as I left the course.

Here is a link to the club's website: http://www.concrawood.ie/Home

If it doesn't turn out as a link, just copy it into your searchbar or whatever its called. The hole by hole section is really good.

Are there any other courses out there that leave people not fully sure of their thoughts on the course?

These might provoke a few comments.

Thomas:

I haven't played the course, but my brother was involved in getting the whole project started. Peter McEvoy and Pat Ruddy were considered for the design, but they eventually chose Christy O'Connor Jnr. & Snr. I'm not sure how much of a contribution Snr. made. They (the members) are very happy with it, but they would be considering that they had to play the 9-hole Castleblaney course for many years.
