Pablo Creek in Jacksonville, with pics
« on: March 24, 2010, 08:59:55 AM »
Thanks to all on GCA who responded to my request for suggestions on where to play in Jacksonville! Based upon all the posts and messages I received, we played Pablo Creek, a 14 year old course built by Fazio.

It really was a treat and unlike any course I have ever played in Florida. If you were dropped on this course, you'd guess you were on the Carolina coast, not Florida. It is cut out of pine trees, has significant marshland and a bit of elevation change.

You fast and firm guys would like it. Greens were very fast and putted really true. Quite hard, so you had to land short and roll the ball on (never my strength, so I struggled.)  Definitely worth playing if you can get on this course!

Thanks for the photos, Bill.

I've heard about this place for a long time, but these are the first photos that I've seen.  Don't go left off of #1!!

Wasn't Bob Duval the pro there at one point?

I believe that you are correct.
All architects will be a lot more comfortable when the powers that be in golf finally solve the ball problem. If the distance to be gotten with the ball continues to increase, it will be necessary to go to 7,500 and even 8000 yard courses.

I've heard good things about the course and great things about the membership.  Not a bad combo!

Pablo Creek is pretty much off the radar for most because it is very private and  tough to get on....  that being said it has been on several top 100 lists and I think it is definitely in the top 10 tracks in Florida.  It's a great club and atmosphere with a very fair and varied design.   The caddies we had were terrific....  golf at it's best.
