New Orleans....

Depending on plane fares, just take Sir Bob's answer and catch a flight out to the coast......nothing to see here.......... ;D

If you are stuck here though, you would have to drive to Mississippi for the first two,

Western PA:

1. Can't say I have one that fits this bill. Mystic Rock would probably be the choice for most, it's not really for me, just don't waste your hard earned big money on Olde Stonewall. :) My pick would probably be Quicksilver.

2. Almost impossible question for this area: there are tons of cheap courses, most aren't that great. I personally have strong feelings for my home muni - North Park GC - it's a wonderful walk/hike through the park, but it's not much architecturally. At $15-20, though, it's hard to top as a bargain.

3. Come on, you don't really need me to answer this, do you? For other recommendations, ask JohnV, he knows the private side much better than I.

Mark,

Was curious if you have played the Preserve near Biloxi and your thoughts if you have?

Thanks,

I enjoyed Limestone Springs, witnessed my friend double eagle #16.

Played one of the Huntsville RTJ courses, Highlands?  I think that is what it was called, pretty forgettable course and at $65 hardly a bargain.

Yeah, a handful of the RTJ sites are worth it, but I guess they make up for the bargains with the other ten sites. The Shoals is one of the bargains. Huntsville is definitely not.

Restrict yourself to Seattle and vicinity. No fair going across the sound. No fair going south of SEATAC. ;)

Mr. Huntley's list are all within 90 minutes of me.  So I wanna take his.  But since those are such slam dunks, well that is why I stuck closer to home.

 ;D

Interesting though, I bet there are plenty who would take Pacific Grove Muni ($42 Mon-Thu) over Poppy Hills at $55 (NCGA member rate Mon-Fri).  Not me, but I bet many in this forum would....

Slam dunk here, you could cover all three with a large bowler hat, or lets say less than five minutes by car.

1. Pebble Beach

2. Poppy Hills

3. Cypress Point

Bob

Poopy Hills instead of Pacific Grove?

See above.  Given the criterion seems to be bang for the buck, I say yes, Poppy Hills it is.

What is going on with PD? When I worked there in 1995 it was $145 to play the Hills course (in season).  No clue what it is now, but hearing it called a budget course is a first for me! ;)

It's all relative I suppose.

All relative, my dear boy..HTown is $250 so by association the Hills Course is a bargain.  Maybe not a value, but a relative bargain..

Ha!  I edited my previous post with that exact sentiment as you were typing JZ! ;D  And you're right of course.  I love the Hills, had tons of memorable rounds there, but never paid.  Another bargain IMO is Old South, a fun course by GCA's own Clyde 'The Glide' Johnston.  But I just looked it up and man it's pushing $100 too!
