Does anybody know who built this course? Are there any pictures of it?

Is that the one where the beloved leader had 18 holes-in-one?

I believe it was inspired by the Great Leader and under the supervision of the Dear Leader.

Actually, ironically it was designed by the imperialist Japanese.  Not sure who did actually did the design.  Let me know if you are interested and I can troll through the Japanese websites and see if there is any information.

Koryo tours can arrange a game there if you want to make the trip.  It's a travel "experience" few other places can match.

You may also want to consider the newly opened Kumgang Ananti Golf Resort in the Kumgang mountains in North Korea.  It features the longest hole in the world (a par 7) and the design feature in the photo below.  During construction the green site to the right was abandoned for something that would give players the opportunity to golf in the Dear Leader's inspired round of 37.  The green site to the left was chosen because it feeds balls into the center and provides opportunities for a hole-in-one.

Although the downside is that if you venture off of the property there's a solid chance you'll be shot.

Let's see if my first attempt to attach a photo to a post succeeds...

Wow, I just googled that course.  They should have put another green like that at the end of their 929-meter par-7 hole. ::)

Rob, did you work on the course?  What was North Korea like?

Tom, I was not involved with the course.  I believe the tourist arm of Hyundai spearheaded the effort.

Although, if you are looking for some additional work I'm sure something can be arranged.  :D

North Korea is weird, wild and yet not at that wonderful.  Have a good story from my trip a few years back-

Hiking in the mountains and it started to snow heavily.  Got separated from the main group with a few others and were escorted down by two North Korean 'minders'.  One of the minders, a young attractive women walking us back asked if we mind if she sings a song.  She said that when it snows she loves to sing a certain song, a lullaby.  Sure, of course, we replied.  So, she sings a beautiful song, very emotional.  I asked what the lyrics meant and the translation came through something like this-

Kim Jong-Il, we know you can't sleep when it snows.  We know you are worried about your people.  Your people are ok, we are warm, so go Dear Leader please go to sleep.  Don't worry about us, we will be fine, go to sleep.

I'm guessing a GCA outing is out at this point?

Tom,
if you want to know what North Korea is like check out this 3-part Vice documentary. It is probably one of the most fasinating and fun things to watch I have ever seen.

http://www.vbs.tv/watch/the-vice-guide-to-travel/vice-guide-to-north-korea-1-of-3
the interviewer asked beck how he felt "being the bob dylan of the 90's" and beck quitely responded "i actually feel more like the bon jovi of the 60's"
