We were at #18 in June.

#21 is the other Portmarnock.

I thought #1 and #16 shared the same name, but I am not sure.  I seem to recall more buildings out in the distance.  I suspect #1 is Dornoch.

We just discussed the erosion problems of #22.

I know #17, but I shouldn't because I have never been there.  Just recall the house form website trawling.

#23 LOOKS familiar, but I don't think I have been there.

15 is HCEG

Bill,

There's no caravan park in that photo, it's a coastguard post (with lodgings)

Tony,

16, the hole in the background is named Spion Kop.

Sometimes a coast guard lodging looks like a caravan park!

Bonus Question for someone who has got an answer above correct .

Please explain the real coincidence in this double?

Do I get to "guess?"

Tony, were you one of our opponents in that match?   ???

16. Royal Dornoch
18. Nairn
22. Brancaster
Bonus: Bill probably remarked that he had never seen that, then did it himself

Close but no cigar!

Actually, that is my son David in photo 1 at #14 (#l2 normal routing) at Hoylake in the 2006 Buda Cup four ball, admiring his tee shot.

Photo 2 is MY tee shot at #2 that day (#18 normal routing)!  He laughed at me then, it came back to bite him 12 holes later!

Sean well done with Dornoch 1 + 16.  But I’m going to press for a name for 17. Probably the most obscure of the lot.

18 is not Nairn

Bill it was the McBride’s vs. Muldoon and Goby – the world’s most unlikely double act. A half that day set us off on our esteemed career record, never beaten when playing together in a BUDA match.

Well, if you insist, it is Frinton.  A totally obscure course that I was sent scurrying to have a look at by one of my many spies seeking out hidden gems.

Give us a clue for #23.

Tried to keep my notes up to date on the ones that have been named so I may be answering some that have have already been answered but here goes:
28 Port Salon
10 Royal Aberdeen or Murcar
2 Portstewart
9 I had Enniscrone but I am pretty sure that is wrong.

The photo of the guy in the dark looks like it might be North Berwick and the hole with the wall in front of the green. At least I think thats a wall on the left of the photo.

As noted above, #1 is Royal Dornoch, from behind the 9th green looking back down the fairway to the huge caravan park in Embo. #16 is from behind the 1st green at Royal Dornoch, looking down the fairway to the RDGC clubhouse and the Royal Golf Hotel.

As well as the caravan park in Embo, there is also a caravan park in Dornoch, easily visible from the 1st tee or 16th green on the championship course and from a number of holes on the Struie course. There are also caravan parks adjacent to the nearby courses of Brora & Golspie.

Is Sean right?  Is 26 the pond at Littlestone?  I wondered if it was but thought the Littlestone pond was a bit bigger?
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

No 5 looked like the Old Course looking over towards the New and the Jubilee. The background was confusing but now that you mention that the caravans aren't there then ity makes sense. BTW, was no 11 North Berwick ?

Sean, Ville and Niall are almost 100% correct.

Yes Niall it's taken from the old course exactly as you say.  I was there last summer when the Lammas Fair was on.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lammas
It's an amazing sight with the whole of South St given over to a funfair. Right outside the door of the Department of Philosophy was a dodgem ride, and somehow between all the trees they get lots of funfair rides. To accommodate an army of travelling Billy Bigelow’s they allow their caravans to park in the road between the 16th and the practice range (Eden) and on what I take to be a service road between the New and the Jubilee – Pictured.

So one mystery cleared up.  Who’s the Chap in the picture? No it’s not North Berwick but it is a very lateral feature. Clue: who would wear a Cardigan round the course?

Tony,
that Old Course photie totally flummoxed me! I KNEW it HAD to be the auld gal, but couldn't work out the background at all. You sly old fox... ;)

As to Cardigan Man: I'm trying to figure out his Club Crest. Is that a Prince of Wales feathers affair ala le 2p piece? Or maybe it's the poised ready to strike Rattler of Diamondback.....hmmmmmmm.

I take it people are choosing to ignore identifying the chap in the photo.  I will say that I believe his cardi is from Westward Ho!
