Battle Of The Republic Hole 2

  Teeth of the Dog

A nice par 4. Great give me something hole. The left side has a hazard that resembles a dry creek bed. Aesthetic and penel. Adds to to how the golfer plays the hole. The wood surrounding the bunkers is also a nice touch and is not overdone.

Looking toward the green from beside the teebox

  Punta Espada

Man made water hazard that provedes challenge and aesthtics to the hole. Elevated tee box on top of volcanic rock. Great view. Pinch me.

Anthony,

Left of #2 fw at T Dog....I've never seen anything like that on a golf course and I don't mean that in a bad way.  Are all of those rocks?

I can see a little bit of The Golf Club with the fw raised a couple feet.

  Jonathan,

Those are rocks. I think it is ingenius. The land is flat and it is a great way to add spice to it. The hole would look and play a little bland without it.

Anthony,

In your experience, how many times has your ball kicked back into the fw after going left?

It looks like you need to miss it pretty far left to have a shot into the green.  Is that area a hazard or a waste area?

I'm a left to right hitter so I aim at it. Never been in it. Hazard or waste? I believe waste. Again give me something. That feature does on a less than inspiring piece of land.

Anthony,

Have you ever pondered chronology?  I can't make heads nor tails out of how these holes play, given the juxtaposition of order in the arrangement of your photos.  They are lovely photos, yet take me left, right, north, south, in, out, until I can't figure out what the hole looks like nor how it plays.

It's been written a lot of laborers moved rocks for Pete.

I'll say.  Geez.
What does it matter if the poor player can putt all the way from tee to green, provided that he has to zigzag so frequently that he takes six or seven putts to reach it?     --Alistair Mackenzie--
