Located in the community of Pacific Beach, Mission Bay Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 58 executive course featuring four par-four holes and 14 par-three holes

It is where Tiger Woods won a Junior World title.

Thanks for posting. In my other life, I "camp" at Campland on the Bay once a summer with the team from Paskowitz Surf Camp. We surf north of the PB Pier and sleep at http://www.campland.com


I have driven by the course a bunch but never played. It looks like there is a footbridge over to the course from Campland. I see there are a couple of options on the table, and next summer I will grab some surf dudes and get over there and play it.

It’s a fun course with returning 9’s so you play a quick 9 holes if that’s all you have time for. There are 2 300 yard par 4’s on each nine so you can let the big dog eat! Years ago there was an big money evening skins game on Wednesday’s. On the down side the greens although well contoured were extremely thatch the last time I play there years ago. The clubhouse was condemned about 10 years ago which is a shame. A great place for beginners to learn and love the game though. We also had River Valley a 12 hole night lighted course adjacent to the old Stardust which was incorporated into the present Riverwalk when the trolley line to SDSU was put in. Tecolote Canyon, is similar in design with par 3’s and 4 300 yard par 4’s. It was night lighted for the 9 holes near the clubhouse but the lights have been out for over 20 years. It would be a shame to loose our last night lighted playground! It has taken 20 years to officially close the De Anza trailer park, you can imagine why the residents didn’t want to leave. Also Campland by the Bay is the only place where you can legally enjoy an adult beverage on a beach in SD.


I don’t think Mission Bay ever participated in the Junior World. Tiger did win at the par 3 Presidio course course in Old Town.

The course still has a future, as of this writing.

I live close by, but have not been there in years. I have two memories of it. 1) The start is peculiar, no? The juxtaposition of holes 2 and 3 (?) present, well, a liability issue? If nobody chimes in, I will refresh my memory with a visit. 2) One gets little sense of the bay, which may save it, i.e. the land, which is by access roads to the 5 freeway, is the least coveted.

The Presidio is in terrible condition. If it is open, it can't be much fun.
