When I was searching for some information on Royal Cornwall GC I stumbled onto this site. It is awesome. I can't believe that so many courses bit the dust. Wander around the site and see if it doesn't catch your imagination.

This site reminds us that closing courses is not a new phenomenon. It is nice to read a bit about some courses that must have been home to folks who loved them.

 8)  Tommy,

That opening map has enough flags on it to completely cover the British Isles... amazing reads indeed.  Great find!

It is indeed a wonderful resource, and largely the work of one couple - John and Marie Llewellyn.

I am sure that I am not alone in being in regular email contact with John with snippets of information I have picked up about local NLE courses. Uncannily he nearly always seems to have got there before me!

John and Marie are near the very top of my list of friends I've never met who I must get to meet! I believe John is a member at Aberdovey.

A former colleague of mine (and Rick Shefchik's), Joe Bissen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, has a book and a website dedicated to preserving the history of Minnesota Courses Lost.

Find it all at foregonegolf.com.
