Good idea Kenny.  I'll add a new section in a day or two.

The latest new courses I've played are:

Olde Atlanta...a very playable affordable private golf course that is a member a network of golf courses, Cannongate.  Fun, laid back golf.

Chris Cupit's Rivermont...now my #1 hidden gem.  Freakin' amazing greens.  I need to play it again to see if I was high on dope and oatmeal, but I am thinking the greens are in Doak/Mackenzie's class.  Mike Riley is an excellent architect.

The Manor...Tom Watson design in a neighborhood layout.

Aiken Golf Club...hidden gem, affordable, excellent.

Here is one that I check out often.

Great info on how Northland CC is maintained. I thaught it was cool because Chris would talk about and shows a particular problem on the blog and then when I played I could see the changes and how things were prgogressing. Very informative.

I would have gone back to The Caddy Shack and revamped it, but I can't get back in anymore since Google took over Blogger rendering my username useless. I've taken all the best writing from both blog sites and imported it into the new site. It's now indexed to provide an easy way to find what your looking for. I missed the ability to receive comments and questions.

Ian

Maybe it's not up yet because everyone has it bookmarked already:

"The mystique of Muirfield lingers on. So does the memory of Carnoustie's foreboding. So does the scenic wonder of Turnberry and the haunting incredibility of Prestwick, and the pleasant deception of Troon. But put them altogether and St. Andrew's can play their low ball for atmosphere." Dan Jenkins

DOES anyone else get a "No Access" to Shack's site?  I cannot get on from work or home and wonder why.  Are my settings all jumbled?  Neither my guy at work nor the guy at Shack's site could provide succour.

Works fine for me?

I've been working on a "fresh" look to my website that I think will be a nice upgrade.  I'm working on adding a variety of things, including several maps.  I've been geocoding the locations of several courses and will utilize that in various maps (i.e. courses I've done reviews on, Top 100 lists, Best in State lists, etc.).  I'm hoping it all comes through well.  I also have some changes going to my Photographs section which I think is probably the best part of the website.  In addition to the slide show viewing option, I will put large thumbnails of each picture of a course I have so that it will be easier to see photos of a specific hole rather than skipping through the slideshow presentation.  I'm also considering adding Google Earth images that show the layout of courses that I've written reviews on and then labeling each hole so that visitors can see the routing.

Anyway, I LOVE getting suggestions of things that viewers would like to see incorporated in the website or things that should be done differently.  So if you have a minute and want to check it out I would appreciate the feedback.

I'd also like some feedback on what you think of the new look I'm working on implementing:  http://www.golfcoursegurus.com/new/
If you go to the "new" site then none of the links work at this point, it is pretty much just what the homepage would look like.

Ian,

IMO, The Caddy Shack web site was (is) the best golf (architecture) blog I've come across. I loved reading the top architects series. I must check out the new blog of yours.

One of you gents needs to launch a site like http://shorpy.com, devoted to historic golf pictures.

When you go there, be sure to click on View Full Size.

Discovering the finest courses with that "joy to be alive" factor. It focuses on classic, very traditional courses in the UK and Ireland - in the main, the types that welcome dogs!

This could also fall under the 'great people you've discovered here on GCA' as meeting Mr. Joy To Be Alive himself last year at Porthcawl was a highlight of the trip.

That's Lorne Smith to the far right.
