Did any one see this course on Destination Golf on the Golf Channel. It was featured on the South Carolina edition. The course was built on the family farm by family members. They did the layout and routing with an airial photo. And construction with farm equiptment. Sounds like fun.

Anthony,

I saw it today as well. An interesting golf course to add along with Kiawah, Caledonia and Sea Pines. It looks like they have a "poor man's" TPC Sawgrass hole there as well. The show's host(ess) was easy on the eyes... ;D

I've heard reasonably good things about this GC, which is in the greater (emphasis on g-r-e-a-t-e-r) Hilton Head area, but well west of I-95, somewhere in the countryside.  I'm not saying it's rural, but the club's zipcode is E-I-E-I-O.

I will attempt to make it there at some point, though I hear it's nearly 1.5 hours from my home in Savannah.

There is this one guy in Tennessee who keeps talking something about this.  Last I saw he had a bunch of bbq sauce on his topo (pronounced toe-poe). ;D
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Penny Branch is actually a McKenzie design, a fact not very well known.

It is interesting and is a bit off the main roads.

Questions:

Did rabbits build a bunker?

Did they employ sleepers?

Are the bunkers "frilly?"

Is it minimalist?

Can I play with or suck up to the architect?

Can Bob Huntley get me access?

Do they have a "great membership?"

Does Tom Paul know the family's ancestry?

Will Jay Flemma drop its name in a new thread?

How many par fours can Matt Ward drive and what is the slope?

Has Geoff Shackleford criticized it yet?

Has John Mayhugh played it?

Does Trump have it under contract?

Do raters get comped?   Hillbillies?

Will there be a book titled The Making of _________?

Would Doak give it a zero?

I gotta know before I go.

If memory serves me right, the course was built by the family who actually did turfgrass renovation things-overseeding, aerifications, tees leveling, de thatching, etc...The 18th hole may be the longest in the state. I wouldn't put it very hihg on my list and it's A LEAST an hour from Hilton Head.

Prior thread from '06:

http://golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,22250.0/

I play this course every year on my way back north. They made a couple of routing changes which messed with the flow, but the price and the solitude make it a worthwhile sidetrip.

p.s Nothing is overseed, at least not in my past visits. They dye the greens and tees for a little color and the speed can be deceptive in places.
