....there really should be a Strantz offering on the list..it may not be the best but it's better than some on the above list.

Agreed, perhaps MPCC - Shore?

I would add Wolf Run to that list.  For some reason this course doesn't get close to the amount of respect it deserves.  Steve Smyers did an EXCELLENT job here with a challenging course that is pure fun to play.

Bandon Dunes and Nanea have been mentioned as well - I know that the Kidd'ster doesn't get much love here but BD is more fun (and better IMO) than Chambers and Nanea would probably get a lot of love if it was accessible in any way, shape or form . . . and Mac Dunes looks pretty incredible (thanks for the reports Chris).

about firmness at Wild Horse,

I played with locals there and they said that they had 3 to 4 times more rain last year than usual, the roughs were basically out of control around september 1st.

I would love to see Blackhawk in Edmonton (Whitman) to compare it with Wild Horse

Arrowhead, Akron New York, Scott Witter

Plays about 6700 from the tips.  No vertical movement to note, but an incredible variety of horizontal movement.  Scott brings holes right to left and left to right with notable balance.  He allows fairways to trundle gently, affording uneven lies to challenge the track into putting greens.  The putting surfaces are varied, with no fear of the high front-low back feature.  I just love this course.

If one assumes that all C&C and Doak courses were never built, this board would be going bananas ga-ga over Dismal River.

If pigs could fly...

But isn't that the point?  That without Doak or C&C, there would be no Dismal River?

Jim C,

Why don't we have an informal ranking poll of these dozen or so courses say over the next 48 hours? Everyone submits their 1-10 list confidentially of courses you've played or seen and we have a simple numerical tally? I'm willing to do the tally if you don't have time....

Jud,

I wasn't interested in ranking them, just the breadth of answers and highlighting quality modern designs.

While I would have to give the nod to Kiawah Ocean I believe The Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol at least merits consideration.

I mentioned this back on the 1st page, but I think Wine Valley deserves a spot on that list as well....quite easily belongs there.

Also, I believe two people have mentioned Sagebrush and I will also support that choice, although I'm a lot less travelled than most here.

I've only seen Sagebrush in photos but based off that I would definitely second that!
