I'll put forth three that haven't been mentioned in this thread...all in SC.

1. Cherokee Plantation--The idea of ultra-ultra exclusive courses fascinates me.  From what I've heard about the place, it is in a very, very interesting location.
2. The Dunes (Myrtle Beach)--Even though I've spent tons of time in the summer in the Grand Strand area, I've not yet had the pleasure of playing the Dunes.  Sometime I will.
3. Bulls Bay--Another course within an hour of Pawleys Island that I would love to play sometime.

I hope to be coming over to America sometime next year for an archi trip, so my list of courses is helluva long. But in Australia I'd say Ellerston, Kennedy Bay, Lake Karrinyup and Royal Adelaide.

Oh, and ANGC and CP wouldn't be bad either.   :)

Chicago GC and San Francisco GC.

I'll play Chicago next time I'm in the US, but don't imagine ever getting to San Fran, but then again, I'm only a youngster.

Having played 70 of the top 100, my list is pretty short. I have become fascinated by Myopia Hunt and Newport, and will try to get on those at some point, as well as some other older NE gems, like Cape Arundel. I toured it in the rain last year, but didn't play.  Just getting back to the roots, I guess.  For contrast, i would like to round out my Strantz portfolio, including Bulls Bay.

I decided to eliminate ANGC and Cypress from consideration because I presumed a large number of people would choose these courses based on their lofty ranking, architectural significance, and mystique.  I also presumed that many people had not played them (especially ANGC) due to difficuly in getting access.  By eliminating these two "obvious" choices, I think the question will elicit a more diverse list of courses.

Hardly anybody is able to name just one course, so I won't either...

1. TOC (because it is TOC and because I entered the ballot in 2002, but got a late afternoon start time that would have made me miss my flight)
2. Crystal Downs (Pictures of the course fascinate me; terrain and design make it seem like the ideal place to play golf)
3. The bandon courses (I will put that right as I have flights and Tee-times booked for early June)

Quite seriously, though the list of courses world-wide is very very long that I want to play, I have no holy grails in terms of courses except this one.  Oh hell I rarely turn down a round for which I have a hall pass, and great courses remain sought out for sure.... but there are indeed none except Augusta for which divorce is a fair trade, and price is no matter.

So I guess I do not count on this thread.

FISHERS ISLAND- I'm sorry, but nothing gets me more excited about golf than seeing real firm turf.  And Fishers Island looks to be about the most F&F course in America.

NGLA-  looks to be the most fun you could imagine having on a golf course.
