Shane,

I'm not sure anyone refers to my golf game as being "Sharp", however:

1.  Make a deal with the wife-you get 1 round every weekend, period.  Do your best to get it in very early so as to not be gone all day.  When you get home, you can watch the kid while she goes to the gym, etc...

2.  Hit the range.  You can always sneak a quick bucket in.  You might even be able to bring the baby...

3.  Make another deal- you also get 1 guys golf trip/year...This is good for 5-10 rounds

4.  Vacation with the family in warm weather-every other day is daddy golf.... 8)

5.  Be careful as the baby grows not to throw your back out lifting him!

6.  Be very nice to your wife!!!!   :o

Thanks Jud!

I guess about 70.  Best new course played: Rock Creek CC.

127 rounds (18 holes-walking) from March 15 to November 20 2009
winter golf...estimated 45-50 rounds (all but Phoenix trip 5 rounds) walking,
14 of those off-season rounds at Bandon, 4-6 at Chambers Bay...when they are le$$

Well over 200 rounds this year, one round in a cart.

Highlights: being hosted by Anthony Gray at his home course, playing Chicago Golf Club twice, pre Christmas trip to Bandon, the Renaissance Cup, and living on the second hole at Royal Dornoch for four months.

Since I end up playing 9 holes most days during the school year, I'd estimate that I played the equivalent of about 80 rounds in 2009.  I'm going to keep track this year to get an accurate number.

I'm curious as to what people who get 100 or more rounds in per year do for a living, if some of you are not yet to retirement.  The best amateur working-stiff golfers in the Hartford area are, unsurprisingly, insurance men.

I came in right around 70 rounds this past year.  Not too bad for packing up and moving to SC from CO in November.   That dropped my frequency of playing for the past 3 months significantly, but I guess I made up for it the first part of the year!  ;)

Cheers to a great 2010!

I don't have stats, but the number is about 90-100 rounds.

Not a big year of discovering new courses for me.  I had the pleasure of playing Pronghorn, Boston GC, Mayacama and the ten hole Old Macdonald preview course.  All are very nice.

The highlights were playing North Berwick with Mike, Mike and Mary, The Renaissance Club with Larry and many friends, and my yearly visits to Ballyneal.

Shane,

The good news is when you get your son on the course in the future...There is no more win/win/win situation.  Wife's happy 'cause your spending time with the kid, kid's happy he's spending time with you, and you're getting more golf in!

You forgot the best win -- you're getting to spend time with your kid!

I couldn't play until July of this year because of shoulder surgery, but I managed 45 rounds!  That's more than what I played total from 2004-2007.  Since I moved back to Ohio from Chicago, the opportunities to play have increased greatly.

2009 states played included Ohio, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Pete Dye GC was the best new course I played this year.

Tim,

Can't speak for anyone else, but I am a golf writer, so opportunities come early and often.  In fact, when the occasional 19th hole-hanging retiree give me grief for being on the GC in the middle of the day, middle of the week, it's always a pleasure to tell them I'm actually on duty!

A very disappointing 71 in 2009. Started the year off with foot surgery which kept me out 2 months and finiished the year getting rear ended which cost me the last two months. Back is still on teh mend but will hopefully be playing in Arizona in a few weeks.

12  :'(   But I did get to play with Jerry Kluger, Chip Gaskins, Richard Mantell, Joe Bausch and Mike 'Newbie' Cirba which I very much enjoyed.

Thank you Carlyle, for keeping me out of last place!

Starting the year with hand surgery, and then running into a number of professional and personal challenges this year, I played less golf at any time in my adult life and only managed to play a total of 10 new courses this year, 3 of them during a weekend wedding in upstate NY.

I've had years in the past where I've played 60-80 new courses, although Cory Lewis puts me to shame.   But, he's young.   ;D

However, I did manage to play golf with Andy Hughes, Jerry Kluger, Joe Bausch, Kyle Harris, Alex Stavrides, and met Bob Crosby, Peter Pittock, and John Lyons at the Walker Cup as well as running into long-timers Tom Paul, Wayne Morrison, Joe Logan, and Kelly Blake Moran (and son) there, so life is good.

I finished the year with a round on Pinehurst #2 amazingly getting paired as a single with fellow GCA-er Jeff Loh (with Susanna), and then played Tobacco Road on my way out of town the next day, so life is sometimes even better than good.  ;D

quite posting in GHIN in October, but believe the total rounds played around 300 in 9 different states, about 30 different courses. The majority being played at my home course, Wolf Run. Not bad for a resident of Indianapolis.

About 110, down from 165 in 2007 and 150 in 2009.  As a Michigander, those are pretty high numbers still.   Why down?  Two reasons, been married for a year now and I love to fish just as much.

Not a good golf year for me in 2009. I played 22 rounds, down from my average of 60 or so rounds per year during the previous decade. My HI went from 10 to 14. I hope to return to the norm in 2010.

I'd say 50 or so. Not great but (a) living in Colorado there wasn't much golf Jan-March and none this year Nov-Dec and (b) 10% of those rounds were at Pine Valley  :)

Somewhere is the vicinity of 80 total rounds, 9 hole and 18 holes rounds combined.

Better yet, I squeezed in 48 "NEW" courses!
Best Played So Far This Season:
Crystal Downs CC (MI), The Bridge (NY), Canterbury GC (OH), Lakota Links (CO), Montauk Downs (NY), Sedge Valley (WI)

Close to 30 "competition (HCP)" rounds

I'd say around another 30-40 on top of that with the USA making up a big chunk of those

I expect to play less in 2010.
