+1 ;)

Sometimes I say fiction is very difficult to write because the writer is forced with making the fiction comprehensible by the human mind.

Suspension of disbelief is an agreement between author and reader... What agreements exist between architect and golfer?

I think the edge the architect has/is given - is that we all want to reach a little bit and don't always know our limitations...except Matt Ward that is...

Having played many of the top courses in Texas, my favorite is still the goat ranch I play occassionaly with the 3 guys I went to elementary school, junior high and high school with.  They all suck, but we couldn't possibly have more fun.

Brad Huff, you're wrong.  That's not the best golf course, but the best place to be with three buddies.  Congratulations on having those buddies.

Kyle, I'm congested and confused...the best golf course is the goat track he mentioned?  I think that is erroneous, as it is simply the best place to be with three buddies (as opposed to a bar, strip club, go-cart track or bus station.)  The best course has to be interpreted as the finest golf course, else we have a wasted thread.  Which course that is, is irrelevant.  Otherwise, it would be a moveable feast (have I used that line before?)

Ronald,

My point is that it probably is a movable feast. The best golf courses are those that can be played an enjoyed.

If one cannot enjoy and play the golf course... what's the point?

And yes, accessibility is a rather central point here.

And what point does lack of accessibility marginalize the best? Imagine if only one person were allowed to play the greatest golf course ever built - how would anyone else know?

the best golf course is the one that you played today, or yesterday, or why did you play it?  to play the game you don't have to play someone else' favourite.
Maybe I'm meaning best available course

Merry Christmas everyone!
