John
My initial reaction to your last post reply # 43 was to ignore it, but to do so would convey my agreement or frustration at your comment. Neither being the case.
I only realised last week-end that we would be in the area that week in September and my comment was directed at Scott alone. That statement I thought was very clear "I do not think that you would be tolerant enough to mix with an intolerant individual like myself, so will probably proceed west to Royal North Devon assured of a warm welcome."
As not playing I would be a bystander while Scott would be playing. Having made his previous comment about my so call intolerance, I did not feel he would be willing or happy to associate with me and my attendance could distract from his enjoyment on the day. That certainly is not or would not be my intention. So he may not welcome my presents where as at RNDGC I have friends.
There is a difference between your interpretation and my meaning, I was trying to be considerate by not ruining Scott’s day. It had nothing to do with "I'll just go somewhere that I'm wanted".
John, you and perhaps others just keep jumping to your own conclusions, all I ask is that if you are not certain of my meaning just Posting, PM or E-mail me and I will happily clear the air.
In answers of your questions,
1. Yes when I realised I would be in the region that week I was considering popping over to say
Hi until I noted Scott and his comment about intolerance. As I said I do not think that it would
have been a wise move with that sort of preset attitude. Also Minehead is roughly halfway
between RNDGC & B&B
2. I was considering it as I do not normally seek hostilities when attending a golf club and for
further information I would point to my last sentence in Point 1
3. I believe Point 1 explains the why
I am just an ordinary bloke, nothing high and mighty about me or my life style. As for my golfing life, well yes its does differ from the large majority, it has been part of my life from the moment I formed a memory, my life was all about golf & St Andrews. What many on this site and around the world want is to visit the Home of Golf, but you seem to forget its my Family home it has been for centuries. I have been close to golf and its history than the majority of golfers so yes I have a passionate view of the game and its traditions. Many say I rant or I lecture, yet my own feeling is that I only convey my opinion on a discussion group of 1500.
Do I have my faults, most certainly I do. For all of them I have been true to my beliefs, I have honoured the spirit and traditions of the game, which is more than can be said about many on this site alone. Example riding a cart clinging to the excuse that its just too hot to walk, well I have played Africa, India, and many of the tropics regions, years before carts were exported to these areas and survived.
Yes I have faults, I may even be intolerant at times, yet have I not been extremely tolerant of Pat Craig with his constant personal attacks upon me.
Let me dig my own verbal grave without your assistance as clearly your book of Morrow Translations is not up to date.
