Whip it out and get arrested are you mad. Anyway, it takes too long to unwind the python these days.

As for the top 25, well I will again decline as I feel it inappropriate to ask my ‘Pretties’ to parade in front of a bunch of Easygolfers (i.e. aid assisted cart riding, “please do not make it difficult” players) thus encouraging them to take a closer looks. In addition, screwing up the time it takes to play a round with the parties of Americans seeking (but never finding) the holy grail of golf.

Anyway, I suspect that most would not want to know as you would have to walk and the only markers are the deposits the sheep leave. Yet I feel that I am walking in the footsteps of God himself.

All I need to do is get this back of mine sorted to resume the orgasmic pleasure of traditional golf in God’s own land.

Jon H - Raisin River?  Never heard of Rock Barn.  Whats the story?

How good is Arcadia Bluffs?  There is a lot of negative talk about the course on here.

Sean, yup.  Raisin River.  Obviously not a big name that nobody out of Downriver (or even Monroe) will never hear of, but its my go-to, fun, close, value course.  I think it makes a lot of good use out of super flat land.  Love it!  Rock Barn is an RTJ Jr course near Charlotte.  They play a Champions Tour event there.  Very enjoyable, and was a pleasant surprise to me and my group.  Arcadia lives up to the hype.  Maybe not the GCA hype as there are some artificial aspects to it.  It's as spectacular as any I've ever played.  It took a couple rounds up there for me to really warm up to it (didnt like at first), but now I really, really love it.

Greywalls over Crystal Downs?  I also did not see that one coming.

JC, ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY.  Crystal is as good as it gets, but I see Greywalls is so incredibly underrated.  Until I played Pebble a month ago, GW was easily my #1.  I think a lot has to do with it being new, kind of getting a chance to "discover" it and fall in love with it.  I have played it much more than Crystal, too.  Kingsley gets the most praise out of Mike's courses around here, but I'll argue all day and night that Greywalls is better.

My list actually looks like this:

Pebble

Greywalls

Everything else...
I still like Greywalls better.

How good is Arcadia Bluffs?  There is a lot of negative talk about the course on here.

Ciao

It largely depends on your view of a very artificial looking course in a great location. I enjoyed it but did not consider it seriously for my list.

For me I include Arcadia in my list because I just think the course is really a lot of fun to play.  I know the course isn't considered great architecture like the classics or some of the modern classics but I think there are some really interesting holes.  Plus, there's the possibility to use the slopes on the greens to get the ball close to the hole which I really like.  There's a good mix of some longer holes and shorter ones.  You throw in the setting and the conditioning and it's one of my favorite courses.

I think the course partially gets criticism because it doesn't play as firm and fast as a lot on this site like.  It looks linksy but doesn't really play like a true links.  Also, I think the green speeds can be a bit excessive for the contours on the greens.  The pace of play is normally awful and there's a huge price tag to play the course.  Plus there's the artificiality of the course as previously mentioned.

So bad it's good!

Jim Thornton
