Gaillardia Country Club
« on: December 15, 2009, 03:47:25 PM »
Just got done caddying for the head pro from Gaillardia at the annual Calusa Pines Pro Invitational.

Was curious what the tree-house thought of this newer Tom Kite design in the OKC metro area.

Did you know World Woods has the best burger I've ever had in my entire life? I'm planning a trip back just for another one between rounds.

I haven't played the course myself, but I do remember it hosted a Shell's Wonderful World of Golf match soon after it opened.  Mickelson vs Couples.

Very good golf course. The clubhouse is huge like Tony said. The property is on the northside off the turnpike and is exposed to the wind which is always going pretty strong in Oklahoma City.

What is the record for most witches' hats on a clubhouse?

I think this one breaks whatever the old record was!

It's much more accurate to report this as an Arthur Hills design, no? It sure looks/plays like one!

Is there such a thing as a solo Tom Kite design? I would imagine he was partnered with a golf architect on this project. A bizarre combination of architectural styles with the clubhouse.

Didn't it open it 98 or or 99 I think.  I always heard it was an Art Hills Design.  I had never heard anything about Kite until today.  I have toured the developement, new big homes and a lots of copper on the roofs.

Their website says that it was redesigned by Tom Kite. Maybe it was an Arthur Hills orginal design...?

Just got an email from the guy who shaped the course (Terry Busch).

"Eddie Gaylord (owner) on his initial walk through after
completion, reamed Art Hills for the lack of water features and other forms of eye candy he could of incorporated with a open checkbook. Tom Kite only added these items to the course"
