Dale,
I don't know the course but your post prompted mixed feelings in me. I love San Miguel and wouldn't mind potentially having a solid course there to play, but I sure hope San Miguel doesn't sell its soul for development, golf or otherwise. Please tell me that ship hasn't already sailed.
Tim, I know exactly what you mean! This is a very special place and golf does seem out of place, especially the big real estate type developments. From the website it does look like that is the plan, villas around the course, private memberships, etc. It is apparently quite close to town but I have not seen it.
More generally modern development is making itself seen but, to my eyes, has not ruined the place. This is my first time here though, so I am not the best judge of whether the old San Miguel is being lost.
If there was decent golf nearby I would be in heaven!
