« on: December 13, 2009, 07:29:07 AM »
I'm looking for any information that anyone may have about Twin Brooks in Wachtung, New Jersy, especially on who may have designed it and its early years.

Thanks

The results of a  quick Google search indicate that the course opened in 1926 and that the GCA was Alec (or Alex) Ternyei (or  Turnyei, or Ternyie). World golf and other websites indicate that he designed the following courses:

Beacon Hill Country Club - Private in Atlantic Highlands
Beaver Brook Country Club in Annandale
Bunker Hill Golf Course - Public near Princeton, NJ
Emerson Golf Club - Public in Emerson, NJ
Green Pond Golf Club - Public in Rockaway, NJ
High Mountain Golf Club - Semi-Private in Franklin Lakes, NJ
Twin Brooks Country Club - Private in Watchung, NJ

Stewart,

Ternyie could not have been the architect. For one reason he was only 18 in 1926 & was working as a caddy. He would shortly after turn assistant pro and then would work as a head pro for more than 25 years before he became a golf course architect. He designed his first course in the late 1950's.

The club has no idea who designed it and is earching for the answer.

So much for the web... Although the records of the Harmonie Club may indicate that this was his first design at such a young age ;)
