Wow... I just read all 3 articles... I had the chance to play Tobacco Road in early november and then played Royal New Kent over thanksgiving due to the suggestions of this board... Mike must have been an incredible person. He clearly changed the way we think about golf courses, but more importantly he seems to have changed people. You can definitely feel his presence while at TR and RNK. When I set up my tee time at TR I told the lady I spoke to on the phone about my aspiring gca career she immediately started telling me about Mike; about his one of a kind creation, but more importantly the impact he had on everyone there and how proud they are that it was Mike that designed their course.  I only wish I could have had the chance to meet to him in person and have that incredible imagination rub off on me.

Never played a Strantz....But I have read and heard more about him than any of his courses...I have to believe this is the measure of a truly great man, when spoken of it is more about him and then his work, something I will always hope to aspire to.

On the other thread about 2010 wish list, if I could get out to Cali, I would play this one before Cypress, before Pebble, before all others.  Such is my regard for the man, the task, the result.
