What a Great Bunker but Where is/was it?
« on: December 04, 2009, 11:12:04 AM »
If a player insists on playing his maximum power on his tee-shot, it is not the architect's intention to allow him an overly wide target to hit to but rather should be allowed this privilege of maximum power except under conditions of exceptional skill.

no - not Lido ..... (I like the bunker but I have no idea where it was) - certainly not Macdonald Raynor

Looks like it is on the finishing hole. If it was stil in exsistance I would think it would be famous. I would love to see it copied.

That's it! The rebels are there and I'm sure Skywalker is with them.

Hi Jim.

When I saw your picture from the link I thought "That's It!" and being a die hard Star Wars geek since 1977 my brain went on to the rest of the sentence from Empire.

Also I'm home with the flu  :'( so my rational for posting exactly what I was thinking may be a bit skewed right now!

Eric,

I figured it was a reference to Star Wars...just didn't have it.

anyway, you're in the perfect place for irrational thought...

Are you saying it IS WF?

hmm

I would've bet the farm that Jim's guess is the correct one. Every single detail is the same, windows, the roof line, look at the timbers patterned in the tudor up top in the Baltusrol clubhouse.

Unless WingFoote tore down thier original clubhouse, that looks exactly like the one at Balltusrol, so I'm not seeing how this can be WingFoote. That clubhouse isn't even close to the one in the pic.

By examination of the Clubhouse.

It is unmistakably Baltusrol.

You will find more on the 'suicide bunker' in the book "Baltusrol 100 Years: The Centennial History of Baltusrol Golf Club"
