Aren't you glad you live in a place where the is no offseason for golf? Golf 12 months out of the year, aint that nice. You can just walk out your front door and over to the tee and have a nice round in December and January? Life is better than good? Am I alone?

Jud...
where do you live?
If you can do it, get yourself down to the Southeast of the US some weekend to hit the little white ball. If you can stand it, I'll meet you for a round or two!!!

The only problem I've found is that with the abundance of sunny weather here in SW Florida I dont have the pressing need to play because I know the weather will be as good tomorrow as it is today. Well, that and I dont have access to the 2 decent courses here in Naples!!

One thing we Yankees have going for us is the wonderful anticipation that hits somewhere near The Masters. You have no idea what the fever feels like.
But honestly, I don't mind the break from all the golf. Gives me a chance to enjoy my other activities and do those projects around the house that didn't get done during the summer.
Plus, seeing a golf course under snow can reveal contours you may have missed in the summer.

I was thinking that I kind of enjoy the seasons of golf up here in what most of you would consider the far NW reaches of the PNW.
The winter can be cold and sloppy, but it is still fun to go out and play. I don't score much different, the air feels fresher, and the course plays much differently. Tomorrow will be near freezing with rain or periods of rain. It's kind of fun in seasonal doses. I don't get out as much, but I am also busier on the weekends, so I don't feel as though I am missing much. It is also fun to go out and play in semi inclement conditions on Christmas Day or New Years.
If I go on a winter golf trip, I go to Bandon. I just don't feel a pull to the desert or what have you. I guess I am a bit of a mudder.

You know, I'd be lying if I said i did not envy those of us who enjoy sun and warm year round, but you make a great point. That anticipation for both golf and baseball really gets me excited. I generally hate all the commercials during the NCAA tournament in march, but I always get excited when they show the brief 5 second clips for the Masters on cbs.

Jud -
I feel your pain. I am in the Chicagoland area too. Man, the long winters are killer on my golf game. I usually don't get anywhere warm over the winter months, so it is a good 5 months between rounds for me, if not longer.

December in The Dominican Republic is AWESOME. Two weeks of golf and the ocean feels like bath water at 10 o'clock at night. Maize and blue where are you?

One of the few things golf in this part of Australia has going for it is that you could play every day of the year and probably only need anything more than a short sleeved shirt and pair of shorts for a hand full of them. Winter weather in Brisbane is superb for golf and the courses generally play firmer and faster than any other time of year.
