Having noticed previous notes about Mr Chaplin's handicap - I am also concerned about Boony's handicap! as the shorter, the tighter - the better for him! trying to put the pressure on! otherwise Boonys normally accurate driver could self destruct - highly unlikely! having seen the pics I would be happy with 30pts for the round due to lack of golf (only 1 round in the last 3 months!!)

Looking forward to take on the course especially Hole 5, 9 and 12! I will leave 13 and 15 to 'Oz'man

Cheers

One more late, and final, addition for the day.

We will be joined by John Lyon (JNC_LYON) in the afternoon so that makes it 27 for the morning and 30 for the afternoon. I would suggest that Sean and his friend Paulie team up with John as one of the first groups out in the afternoon but we can discuss/agree that later.

By the way if anyone needs to contact me before the day please do so - my email is

Gareth@bespoke-auto.co.uk

or mobile;

thanks!

That is fine with me.  Send John out with Paulie (Wheller BTW - and no, not THE Paul Wheller) and myself.  I plan to get there at 11:30 and scoff down food as early as possible.  My hope is to be on the tee for 12:30, but 1ish may be more realsitic depending on when they serve.

Sean,

Paul Weller, surely?

Leave some pudding for the tail gunners in the morning round, please.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Well, it sounds like I got just before the final whistle.  Nevertheless, I am looking forward to a great day Swinley Forest with Sean Arble and friend.  Big thanks to Gareth for setting all of this up.  It will be great for a young Yank like me to see a genuine London heathland layout.

Pudding is not an English tradition I have gotten into yet - unless chocolate is involved.  You can have my portion Tail Gunner.

Tail gunners are obviously a different beast in here in the UK than in Australia, then?

I bloody hope it warms up a touch in the next week...

The courses in the area are pretty damp at the moment. I presume that's down to the snow freezing and then thawing. Played on Friday and it was really wet.

This anticipated cold snap is meant to be worst on Thursday and Friday, fingers crossed it's not too bad.

Any one in the London area care to update us with local weather conditions?

Radio 5 referred to it snowing in London last night.  Did it settle?

Forecast for next few days for Berkshire area suggests mainly dry but remaining cold.

We got a massive blizzard last night in south London where I am (20miles from Swinley) that settled for an hour or so, then melted. This morning the streets were free of snow and the shallow puddles weren't frozen.

I suspect what qualifies as "a massive blizzard" in south London (and indeed Australia) probably needs qualifying for us Northerners, or anyone reading this in the northern part of the USA or Canada.

Indeed, there has been some weird weather in the last few days.  I ventured down to Royal St. George's for an early morning round yesterday.  While eating lunch and contemplating my second 18 holes, a flash blizzard consumed the golf course and much of the South Coast.  The course I had enjoyed only an hour beforehand was blanketed in snow.

All of that being said, the blizzard was hardly anything for an Upstate New Yorker like myself.  There is no snow on the ground in London right now.  Even if we had the snow storm that hit the South Coast yesterday, it should be warm enough and sunny enough to melt by early next week.  I am certainly not concerned.  If there's no snow, I will play.  I look forward to a great day of golf on Tuesday.

I couldn't see the shops out the side of the bus window for snow that was blowing sideways more than falling.

Are you a converted Brit as you are obsessed with weather unlike your comrades down under! Remember to bring the winter warmers (especially those hand warmers as well as waterproofs and if there was unusual weather change - your thongs! - Aussie slang for flip flops! not women's underwear!) LOL. Look forward meeting you at SF

Cheers

Ben, not converted properly, because I still forget/refuse to take a coat when I go out, but this winter is testing my patience. Were it not for hols back to Aus, to Egypt and to Portugal in two weeks I reckon I'd have gone crazy. This weather is just not right.

I am only obsessed with the weather because I have got to be. Seems like snow has been a possibility since October and will be until May! ;D

Tony Muldoon told me tonight he has only known two winters like it in his entire life, which is something!

Agreed that's some history lesson!!

Scott/Tony unless there is a massive thaw tomorrow you've about a 1% chance of playing on Saturday, there was around 6" in Deal
this morning. In Tonbridge not a flake.

I'm 5 miles from Swinley Forest and the weather has been fine all week. If it is like the last 2-3 days we will have a great day out.

Cue the snow!!
