Garland,
Bill said Mike Young was sick of my questions. Or was it him that was sick of my questions for Mike young? I forget. I love them both. NHice hat. I guess for Bill he may think that he needs to help police the site. That is OK with me. Even if he ignorantly comes down too hard on me. He is Bill McBride and since he is a member at Cypress I will kiss his ass like everyone else on this site.
Anthony

Come on guys, lets take a breath and think about what we are doing. This topic is self-destructive not just for the site but those who seem to want to prove a point or look down on others.
None of us are Saints, but do we need this. Let’s get back to golf, I have not had a comment on Prestwick St Nicholas GC yet which is what this site is mean to be all about.

Mark, Ed, Bill, whoever,
I understand the advice that has been offered, and am willing try and take that advice. But if you guys think that simply ignoring him will solve the real problem, then I beg to differ and think you may be the ones blinded to what is really going on here.
I'll be blunt and try to be brief. This is not just about "endless bickering and acrimony." TEPaul has essentially become an unstable internet stalker with way too much time on his hands, and has vowed to do anything and everything he can to run off those who dare disagree with him. He has gone far beyond any acceptable bounds of decency, privacy, and decorum, and his bizarre and vague threats are downright creepy. So far as I know, there are at least three posters who have recently or are currently being harassed via private email despite requests that he stop. He sits at home and monitors what threads I am reading.
This sounds harsh and obviously many would rather just turn their heads, but for some of us it the ongoing reality. And it impacts the quality of posts and posters and it hurts the site. Plus, I really don't think that those of us who TEPaul has made his "personal projects" ought to have to put up with this to participate in a website about golf course design.
Here's hoping that one of you is not TEPaul's next "personal project who deserves constant attention."
___________________________
Melvyn, I'd love to read a discussion on Prestwick, especially if you started a thread on it.
But this acrimony isn't going away unless we deal with it, so I don't see why we shouldn't discuss it.

I have to ask a question: do you think it's disrespectful to Ran and Ben to have started a thread posting answers to questions by someone banned from the site?

From Jeff Silverman's Feature Interview: 15. What prompted you to approach Sports Illustrated with the idea on an article about GolfClubAtlas.com? I figured youd get around to that. I actually began looking at the site in the spring of 2001 when I was writing a piece for Philadelphia Magazine on Gil Hanse. Gil suggested I take a look at the interview that youd posted with him. And I did. And I admit it, I was thoroughly entranced in a perverse sort of way by the train wrecks in the Discussion Group. But I also found a lot of good information there. Then Yankee magazine asked if Id create a virtual all-New England golf course by mixing and matching holes throughout the region. Some of your course reviews Im thinking of Ekwanok, Taconic, and Yale in particular were pretty helpful. So I kept looking at the site and curiosity got the better of me. Who are these guys who seem to care so much about the depth of sand in a bunker, whether or not Tom Fazio is the devil incarnate, and whats up with Phil Mickelsons breasts? And I began to imagine the little dramas that percolated from that. I mean, does Tom Paul ever sleep? I needed to know. Which translated into it looking like GCA had the makings of a good story. So I pitched SI, and got an immediate go-ahead. 16. From the time that SI said yes until the piece was completed, what surprised you the most? How truly contagious the site can be. And that whatever time I logged on, Tom Paul had just posted something that Pat Mucci had immediately taken issue with, or vice-versa. 17. What do you most recall from the time you spent with the GolfClubAtlas.com group while writing the article in Los Angeles? You mean besides your hook? OK. That no one I played with at PGA West, Rustic Canyon, and Riviera ever took a pencil out of their pocket to jot a score on the scorecard, at least not in front of me, they didnt. That the conversation was pretty good. That the site really brought a bunch of people together in a good way. And that I learned more about Riviera historically and strategically in one round with you guys than I did in the I dont know how many rounds Id played there previously when I lived in LA. More than all of that, though, meeting the Most Loved Man in Golf was truly unforgettable. 18. If there had been room in the magazine article for another 1,000 words, what else would you have covered? Its probably best that I dont go into the sex and drugs. Just kidding. Probably deeper into detail and personality, and more on some of the more contentious and interesting postings themselves. http://golfclubatlas.com/feature-interview/jeff-silverman-may-2003

tep thanks for the apology
mel, if you'd take all those reference materials to another thread, i'd bet you'd get much more response, even from me!
perhaps the number of posts and that member "status" should be taken off and a simple national/state flag replace ... i think its been proven that there are no "gods" on gca.com, just human beings
not a grillroom, but i once saw two guys in a bar throw beer over each other.. they were just having fun, but still got escorted out...
i believe the ultra rational can be both humorous and anal obsessive..sometimes good for computer programmers, sometimes bad for discussion groups

Anthony,
I have to ask a question: do you think it's disrespectful to Ran and Ben to have started a thread posting answers to questions by someone banned from the site?
Mike, Your question is fair and just and contains no venom. The thread was ment to be fun. At first if you read it it was. It turned very bitter quickly. No response from me or John contains venom. I have played in 3 CGa events. All three have had BANNED players. I did not realize that I was supposed to treat John as a leeper. I do not condone some of his behavior. But look at that thread. John has enough respect for me to not spout venom. And I would have never posted it if he did. . Mahaumad Ali said he would not gpo to Veit Nam because the yellow man did nothing to him. When john was on the site he through insuilts to me also. I thought many of those were ingenious and funny. You have a choice to offended or not. I choose not to be offended. As far as the yellow man analogy is concerned. John always returned myIM's, a few have not.A few have thrown darts and have been offended by some returned, John has not. I have been insulted by some, buy noy by John. John extended an invitation to me to play at one of his private clubs, others have not. He was offensive to others ,but not to me. How many on that thread were rude to me, but John was not. As far as Ran and Ben are concerned....I think it it more respectful to them to leave them alone and not bother them with trivial things. This is not Grade School, give them a break. I think REPORT TO MODERATOR is for sissies. Please show me on that thread a rude comment by either myself or John. I assume if I can play AND have a great time with Tommy Nac I can be friends with someone that has hosted me at his club, wears black underwear, stays in contact with me, does not refer to me as a doush bag, and does not recieve IM's saying I am WEIRD when whe I produce a thread let me ID myself. Is John perfect..hell no. Was he wrong...hell yes. Just ask him how many times I have called him a bastard aND REFERED TO HIM AS CANCER. But he has shown me more love than a few on this site. So respectfully...............I will not go and kill the yellow man. Anthony

My daughter and my youngest boy can't seem to get along. They dig at each other. They play each other like puppet masters tickling the strings. When I talk to each of them about their behaviour, the first word out of their mouths is always regarding what the other one has done. No one says they're sorry. They always complain that the other one never gets in trouble, only them. I tell them "you can't control what they do. You can only control what YOU do." It's a work in progress.
Anthony - I spelled behaviour that way on purpose. I like to spell it that way.

Tonight I had dinner with Rees Jones, Tom Fazio and Steve Smyers.

While it may be true, the word idiotic is invalidating. One can be validating and also state their opinion or preferences. Try again without the word idiotic please. I wish Joe's initial post was more positive.

OK come on, Patricio, you are lying through your teeth or just joking again, right? If not, what do you think you are some kind of fucking professional heavy-weight boxing REF? But I'll tell you what---if you can get Rees and RTJ jr to have a total dinner together with you without getting food all over the restaurant, I am going to personally nominate YOU as the Father of Modern American Golf or Golf Architecture or something equally impressive!

Since you chose to continue posting, I won't post anything about any aspect of the conversation with those three fellows., and this is my last post on this thread.

Joe, Nice try (validation ) I don't come here much anymore, but I noticed the thread title and your name and I had to check it out. Wow, talk about cramming all kinds of drama and attempts at drama in a few short pages. I'll see more when I ask my young daughters to clean their rooms this afternoon.
