Easily Oakmont.  Though Sleepy Hollow would be up there too.  You've got some great picks.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

We should have opportunity for reciprocation considering Seminole and Oakmont have the same Head Pro!

I found it quite interesting what people were trying to trade to get Augusta.  Only on this website would someone ask for Augusta and Pebble for Pine Valley.

In the "real" world and not on GCA, Augusta would be a one for one swap for just about any course.  Not here...

Its amazing how smooth the Merion pick went... Nobody complained about designers or has tried to trade for it!

I would be interested in trading for some Old Tom's and Quaker since I'm a homer!

Are we going to get a "panel" to rate the selections?

Maybe we can even come up with "categories" so everybody wins - just like in kiddie sports these days :)

There were some great picks in Round 1.  E Smith's pick was a major coup as he was somehow able to scoop Co Down, Muirfield and Dornoch in an OTM pick.  J Colton's pick was inspired because he snatched a great variety of courses In Pine Valley, Portrush and Sunny Old.  I have to call it a draw between Smith and Colton.

Round 2 was a difficult one as there were four savy drafters in Sims, Smith, Jones and Tigerman.  However, landing Augusta and Royal Melbourne (in the 2nd round - hello!) then pawning off Palmetto for a modern classic in Friars head takes the cake.  Winner: Sims.

Round 3 - another tough choice - a lot of much of a muchness going on.  I like a wheeler/dealer, but I can't see where the dealing gained much in this round.  So the default goes R Rigg because I like the variety of Castle Stuart, Rustic Canyon and Boston GC.

Round 4 - another nasty call as desperation seems to be creeping into the draft process.  I liked Smith's call for Colt, but I already selected a round in favour of Colt.  Default goes to A Miller on a flyer for Cal Club, Kingsbarns and Dundonald.

I didn't like the 5th round as it seemed there were flaws with all selectors - fatigue was winning out at this point - or maybe sex got in the way of some research.  I guess I am forced to go with the bold drafter and declare P Hodgdon's selection of Machrihanish Dunes, Bandon Dunes and the Castle Course if only because they are all public access facilities - Joe Six Pack still has a place in the golfing world.

I liked the picks of Rigg, Sims and Smith.  At the end of the day, North Berwick is probably my most favoured course in all the lands so I give the 6th round to D Sims.

Round 7 - who knows, but anytime a club with a great name like Yarra Yarra is involved, it has to be a keeper.  Besides, it would be a shame not to pick both courses of Melbourne because it would break up possibly the best course in the world - Melbourne's composite course.  J Tigerman wins with A Russel picks of Paraparaumu Beach, Royal Melbourne (East) and Yarra Yarra.

I have too many GB&I courses in the round winners, but when a pick is so far beyond anyone else's I have to call it tops.  J Tigerman wins Round 8 with his Colt selection of Royal Worlington, Formby & Ganton.

There were a few courses I was surprised not to see drafted.

Round 1 - Braid: PENNARD (zippity do da), Tenby & Perranporth

Round 2 - Fowler: Walton Heath New, Berkshire Red & EASTWARD HO! (zowie!)

Round 3 - Colt: Rosses Point, Portrush Valley & SUNNINGDALE NEW (zowie II!)

Round 4 - 3 Majors: Kington, WEST SUSSEX (you gotta be kidding me!) & Seacroft

Round 5 - Willie Park Jr: Notts, Silloth & Parkstone

Round 6 - D Steel: Littlestone, Southerndown & Machrie

Round 7 - Pennink: Sandwich, Hoylake & Saunton West (someone better double check - I can't believe these are still on the table)

Round 8 - T Dunn: WOKING (cha ching), Seacroft & Broadstone

Bonus Round - OTM: Wallasey, Dunbar & Elie

BTW - I tried desperately to get Royal West Norfolk in there, but I failed.

Bill

My wife might like a male; I am pushing for a female, but expect I will be lucky and just get an airmail from my wife's solicitor on the grounds of being sexist by not wanting another male, possibly giving her grounds for divorce. :-\

So much for my fantasy, forget foursome finding it difficult enough to get a twosome these days. British Rail delay or postpone trains for the wrong sort of rain, snow or leaves on the track, women have a complete range of headaches and excuses that put British Rail to shame.   :o

Hodgdon
Colton
Rigg
Smith

Honorable mention to Tim for picking some of my absolute favorites with his first two rounds, but falling off sharply thereafter keeps him out of the first rank IMHO....

Taking a closer look at the teams after all the dust has settled I think Jud's team probably wins over my own.  When we finished I considered Jim to have assembled the strongest lineup of all the teams and maybe I still do.  Those two will duke it out for top gun honors I'm sure.  Maybe I can squeak out a show position in this race.

I think I was too focused on links golf, but no regrets as that was really the most fun of it for me. Throughout this draft I was able to find out a little more about them along the way while certainly riding a high knowing that I'm going to Buda next year to actually play links golf.

In my opinion everyone excelled at this exercise.  Mac undoubtedly was having a ton of fun with the whole thing, evidenced by his out of nowhere Desmond Muirhead and the Jaws of Death pick, then backing it up with his viva Nepal trio.  A great jolt of exuberance on here coming from the ATL for sure.  It's nice reading his thoughtful threads of late on here.

Don't you guys kind of miss the 'on the clock' adrenaline??  I was having to check in just as I awoke and was following along at bedtime, so as not to have time expire on my sleeping ass which seemed to be the case with my draft position for most of this thing.  Fortunately I always had the World Atlas of Golf handy, the older one (1991) at work and the new one on my night stand at home with pen and paper scribbles of potential plays.  WAofG is great reading for the gca nerdanado - everyone should have one (or two!)

Thank you for the thread Jim and everyone who participated, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Guys, I had a great time watching this all unfold, wish I had the time to put into it as much as each of you did.  Well done.

I like seven of the teams enough to own but put Kovich's on just a slightly higher plain - let me know if you ever need a fourth.

I can imagine a GCA golf outing...some of the guys are there to measure their wangs while others are there for the camaraderie.  The camaraderie of the draft was what kept me going.  I'm thrilled that some guys are competitive enough to need a win on this thing; the world needs competitors.  I somehow think that I would enjoy the camaraderie guys like Jay in my foursome, although I wouldn't back down from any of y'uns (as they say in Maine.)
