Just in case you aren't familiar with the gem that is/was Stone Harbor...check this link out.

http://www.isteve.com/golf_art.htm

About 3/4 of the way down the page is a picture of the "Clashing Rocks"...yeah...it looks like a venus fly trap.  BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!  And in this fantasy draft it is all mine!  ;D :-*

Seriously, this article is well worth the time it takes to read.

Here's a quote from that article from Mr. Muirhead...

"This hole has been published in hundreds of magazines worldwide, in art and architecture as well as golf. It was based on Jason and the Argonauts. The symbol came from my subconscious where it had probably been hanging around for a great many years. According to Jungian psychology, it is a mandala, a Sanskrit word meaning perfect circle which is the most common archetype drawn in psycho-analysis. The central form is female and the jagged forms are male."

All I can say is WOW!

River Oaks, a course not five minutes from my house, is a Muirhead.  It sits on an island in the Niagara River, five miles above Niagara Falls, the ultimate land of clashing rocks.  Way to keep the spirit of mirth alive, Mac...Who's next?

Anyone who has paid any attention to my near 1000 posts on this site will surely know why Mr Miller picked Belvedere.  That's right, it's coming my way.

THE DEAL HEARD ROUND THE WORLD:

Jones trades Oakmont to Flemma.
Jones trades Colt: Rye, Eden and Toronto to Miller

Flemma trades Philly Cricket and Quaker Ridge to Miller

Miller trades Raynor: Yale and Mid-Ocean to Jones
Miller trades Watson: Olympic (Lake), Harding Park and Belvedere to Jones

I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Who needs Olympic and Harding when you've got SFGC and Cali of SF right next door. Now I have Rye and Eden and kept Fishers Island! Oh yeah, I also now have arguably the 5 best courses Tilly ever built (Sleepy Hollow does NOT count). I'm not upset. ;)

I think Miller and Flemma walk away from this deal better than me, however, I heart Belvedere and would have given up just about everything I've drafted so far to ensure that I got it.  The point of this is to get courses you'd want to play at for the rest of your days, I want Belvedere to be on that list for me.

Yeah, and if anyone wants to play a one of those Tillies again they better come talk to me.  ;D If anything I gained diversity by getting some Colt. I can live without Watson's courses because I have my SF gems.

Miller...tough luck...I hear Burbeck designed all those Tilly claims.

So much of what we're doing here is personal...for me, playing Putterham was terrific at age 16...finding out years later that Stiles and Van Kleek created it, along with Taconic, sealed the deal.  Woods Hole, Charles River and Myopia look like the type of courses I'd like to play into my old age...manageable length with terrific locations and eternally interesting ground features.
