Another new course in Berkshire
« on: October 20, 2009, 04:42:42 AM »
The below story just came across my desk. Anyone know who designed it?

PRINCE ANDREW has built his own golf course complete with driving range in his back garden, it was reported today. The prince, 49, is believed to have spent a small fortune on the nine-hole course in the ground of Royal Lodge, Windsor, Berkshire.
A source said the prince, who has often been accused of wasting thousands of pounds of taxpayers’ money jetting round the world to play golf, now “only has to walk out of the door for a round”.

Scott,

the Royals actually already have a 9 hole golf course in their garden right next to Windsor Castle. You should be able to see it on Google Earth. I read a news article a few years back that Prince Andrew was enlisting Nick Faldo to carry out the work to renovate this 9 hole golf course with the intention of hosting corporate clients.

The papers say that this 9 hole course is near the Royal Lodge which is located in Windsor Great Park 3 miles south of Windsor Castle. So it sounds like that the Golf Prince is going to have his own course and driving range to save costs of flying up to St Andrews in a private plane quite regularly!!

Cheers

Ben

the little track in windsor is fun - i played in a match against the royal household earlier in the year.  not a world beater, but a pleasant day out.  No royals showed up alas
