Surfing the web this morning and looked up Royal Porthcawl - they have a new website with the updated course strokesaver images. Biggest change of all is the new 12th green by David Williams.

Has anyone taken you up on the carpool proposal?  I may be able to drive with you if we can work out some specifics.  Please email me of you are interested.

Just to muddy the waters of choice even further, here is a link to a very well run society which just happens to have Swinley Forest scheduled for 16 September.  The price isn't too bad either considering the club charge £150 for the day.

Hi all,

Some bad news to report on the Buda front... I'm not going to be able to make it for this year's hostilities.

I'll be getting married in France the weekend of the big dance. Would you believe me if I said I tried to organise it around Buda? I'm sure those who know me won't be surprised by that! ;D

That said, anyone who is in or around London before the 18th or after the 25th should PM me to organise a hit at Deal if they are so inclined.

Scott,
Did you pick that date to ensure none of your GCA mates will try to crash the wedding?

Scott, sorry you'll miss the Buda but a wedding in France sounds rather special, congratulations!

I had been having a difficult time finding two single rooms for Joe Buehler and me in the area of Pennard without going into Swansea (which I was unimpressed with last time there), so have booked our rooms at the North Gower Hotel (http://www.northgowerhotel.co.uk/index.htm).  50 quid a night B&B, and 15 minutes to the golf course.

Perhaps the beds won't collapse this time.   ;)

They didn't have any bookings yet before these (for Saturday and Sunday nights, 9/18 and 9/19), so available for any unbooked Buda-ites.

The beds collapsed in our non-luxe accommodation at Deal.  Note there are two single rooms booked at the North Gower!

I would really like to tie in a couple of days at RCP next year, but it is quite a trip from Pennard to Deal.

Scott,

If I haven't said so already, Congratulations! Shame you wont be able to make it but then its a pretty good excuse you have! My own anniversary is on the 22nd Sept which was carefully planned as a wedding date in 2007 to avoid all major distractions, no cricket, football, world cup or anything like that and CERTAINLY no Ryder Cup that year! Of course it never occured to me that every other anniversary would be up against a Ryder Cup... Doh!  ::)

If you fancy getting away from it all just before then wedding then come join us at Burnham on the 16th, if not before.

Cheers,

James

Thanks James. Family will be arriving from Aus for the week or so before, so I'd say I am no chance for Burnham, but I am definitely getting out there before then!

I am pleased to say Lorne Smith, the creator of  one of the best websites out there for people who are discerning about where they play, will be one of the crowd: http://www.finegolf.co.uk/

Presently, I have one spot remaining at Porthcawl.  If I get enough on a reserve list I will look into obtaining another tee time.

Bump for anyone who might want to get a first hand look at Pennard!  (See the thread currently on page 1, "Pennard."  Seeing for yourself - priceless.)

Details of the Buda Cup are on the first page.
