Nice work. You get the job.

How about wrapping the rock wall around the back of the green, put sand in the left greenside bunker and experiment with different grasses - wildflowers on the hill.

Good to see Tiger hitting a wood from the ladies tee on a par three!

Cary,
Or they could just add the green and have a two-fer.

Looks a lot sunnier up on that hill.

Or they could leave the bottom green, add a top green, leave the stream in the middle of the green and now you have a whole new concept in greens... ;D ;D ;D ;D
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

It looks like the creek only really "worked" when the trees were there because you couldn't see what was feeding it and its at least plausible that it was "real".

Now that the trees are gone, it would appear the creek has been "exposed" and maybe they need to G-can the creek and replace it with a hillside of some native grasses that are left to grow long and whispy!!  :D

Why is there rough within a foot of the green on the left?

You have that cool little swale short left where nervous bail-outs could filter away leaving a fun little chip-and-run from a tight lie and it's covered in rough. Craziness!

I don't mind the idea of a bunker long right. As well as it's impact off the tee, if coupled with a tight run-off short left it would be looming there in the background if you thinned a chip to a centre or right-hand pin.

This is too much fun, I like Scott's idea of the shaved left front swale, not sure if the shady conditions would allow it to be successfull.
Mark, Tiger is hitting a HUGE, high cut into the front flagstick!

Rich,

This is very cool.

Can you make a few more adjusments?

1)  Make those bunkers "hairy"
2)  Replace the flowers on the hill with tall whipsy golden rough
3)  Remove all the rest of the trees in the pic
4)  Put Tiger in Plus 4s.   ;D

HUGE improvement without the trees. My guess is a handful of tree-huggers are moaning about the loss of the trees, but they will be forgotten in no time, especially after the bare spots where the stumps were have grass. The ide of "framing" a hole with trees really misses the point of good architecture, IMO.

Definitely extend the wall, and I like the photoshop with wild grasses/wildflowers behind the wall.

I really DISLIKE the "new" bunker photoshopped in on the left. It makes the hole look like so many other par 3's. Let that ball roll away from the green!

I also like the idea of taking out the rough on the left and allowing short/left shots rolling away from the green, but if that type of feature is not present anywhere else on the course, it may look out of place.

The trees behind the green are a native maple-beech-oak forest on a 90 foot kame. The oak on the right is a cool specimen. The trees to the left are native on a similar slope as behind the green.

I would just keep the hole as it is with provisos

Repair the wall in its current position.  Trying to use it for framing purposes seems silly to me.

Remove more trees down the left if possible.

After, gets my vote.

I love trees but not on a golf course.

Let the golfer see the rabbits and other golfers, not trees. You want trees then become a forest ranger. Unlike all other hazards they have a mind of their own (our King George III speaks well of them and to them), as well as have a habit of sprouting branches in the most inconsiderate places at times, thus modifying the design intent as they mature. Therefore, I believe trees are not a designers friend, nor for that matter a Green Keepers either, in what they do to the ground (roots and water consumption).

Anyway, the hole looks so much better without them IMHO

Melvyn.

Nearly there, take away the tree as Kalen says, and the bunkers, move the wall in front of the green........and voila as they say down in North Berwick.

Buy some rabbits and tether them to the hillside.  In time they will produce beautiful, well positioned bunkers. ;)

Not quite. The hole doesn't cross a road.......or cart path as they called them in the last century   ;)
