Chicagoland golfers, forget about Dubs!!!
« on: September 09, 2009, 07:29:52 AM »
Why frustrate yourself and have to stand in a crowd 12-deep trying to get a glimpse of Tiger???

Instead, come out to Beverly to see the countries' finest amateur golfers, aged 55 and over.

Admission is free.

Parking is free.

And you will see fantastic golfers on a fabulous golf course, in perfect shape to challenge these fine players.

Practice rounds are this Thursday and Friday, Medal Play is Saturday and Sunday, and Match Play is Monday. Tuesday, Wednesday and the Championship Match Thursday next week.

Stop by and say 'hello' as I will be caddying in it!

For more info, see:

Hope to see you at Beverly!!

BTW, this is the second USGA event that Beverly will have hosted.  The first was 78 years ago when Francis Ouimet won his second National Amateur here.  I am hopeful we will crown as great a champion as Mr. Ouimet!!!

I'm hoping to make it on Sunday.  Anyone else going to be there?

Dan,  I shall be there on both Sat PM and Sunday all day. I will look for you and feel free to call me on my cell-I believe you have my number. We shall see if Paul Richards is still the caddy he once was at Beverly in the early 80's! ;) Should be fun to watch this week.

It is amazing the quality of golf that I have seen so far in the two practice rounds here.

Jack,

Looking forward to Sunday.  I have your cell but suspect I'll find you without a call.  I am looking forward to seeing some of the great Senior Amateurs like Bill Shean at Beverly.

Here is a nice profile of Shean by Teddy Greenstein from today's Trib.
