Does anyone understand the rationale behind this column?

There are likely hundreds of golf courses in financial distress right now.  Who chooses to highlight some and not others?  If they are going to help tank some courses, why don't they start with the ones on their own 100 Greatest list?  Now THAT would open a few eyes.

Tom,

These guys only discuss articles that have been published elsewhere. Given the economy, newspapers across the country publish articles of local and/or national interest on real estate or other projects that are in trouble- foreclosure or otherwise. It's definitely newsworthy particularly in the golf development industry. Sometimes, they even comment on new projects opening or being developed.

The rationale?  Simple, really.  It's a niche that had yet to be exploited.  Who else is doing something like it among the big golfing outlets?  I found the posting of the four points as disingenuous as anything else; there are a number of other, less morbid, blog entries on the page.

If you continue on, you'll see the entry on LuLu...Shaffer, are you "Reader Steve"?

"The Lu Lu Country Club outside Philadelphia is the site of some interesting drama these days. Thanks to reader Steve for tipping us off about it."
