San Geronimo Golf Course Sold
« on: August 21, 2009, 12:14:38 PM »
I though some Bay Area folk might be interested to know that San Geronimo Golf Course was just sold to a private party -- finally.

Here are some links to the articles in the Marin IJ:

The second article states that the property is only 21.9 acres, which is quite obviously incorrect.  I can't imagine where they came up with that number.  I would guess its really somewhere in the 120-150 acre range.

Josh -

Thanks for linking those articles. I heard last week that SG had been sold. I have long considered SG (a Vern Macan layout) one of the Bay Area "hidden gems." I hope the new owner treats it well.

David,

I don't know how "hidden" it is, but I wouldn't hesitate to classify it as a gem, as it is indeed.

$5.6 Million for that property in West Marin...well I wouldn't necessarily say thats a steal, especially in this economy; but I do think that with an additional million invested it could be upwards of phenomenal.

That is a big number if you want to make money after another million put in

21.9 acres?  Macacn was a genius indeed!

I played some there after it opened and was never terribly impressed.  Those holes out in front of the clubhouse were very plain.  There were some awkward holes elsewhere.  I'm pretty vague about the course which is never a good sign for me.
