Thanks guys!
It is a given that luck plays the principle role of the ace. In this case it played the only role. I wish I could say that I hit a shot under the wind that utilized the slope behind the flag, but I didn’t. I merely tried to hit the highest, softest shot possible which landed on the front of the green and rolled in forward. Simply put, there was NO reason for anyone to make one from that tee, with that wind. To quote Yoda: “Pure luck it was”.
As an aside, I have the non-playing Ben Sims to thank for even taking us to that tee. I have a feeling that without our argument over the size and position of the centerline bunker on eight (which kept him nearest the South); we may have ended up on the West tee.
Joe,
We thoroughly enjoyed Mines Friday evening. I’m sorry we weren’t able to hook up this time. Is there any intentional relation between the 11th at Mines and the 9th at Kingsley?
John Kirk,
Since I know you like to keep tabs on this sort of thing, I was -2 on the ninth for four rounds. +27 for the rest of the course.
As for the entire trip, Jim Colton summed it up in one word: Serendipitous
It’s certainly a weekend that will remain etched in memory.
