David Stamm -

Thanks for the links to that website of aerial photos. Very interesting stuff.

Please be aware that Sharp Park has suffered further damage from coastal storms and flooding multiple times since the first major storm that severely damaged the course within a couple of years after it opened in the 1930's. I am not sure when the current seawall was built to protect the course from further coastal erosion.

The most recent major storm damage to the course, that I can recall, was in the early 1980's. One of the holes closest to the ocean was lost. A 100-yard practice hole was pressed into service to replace it. That hole is still part of the course.

Yes, the city of Pacifica has definitely been part of the process regarding the future of the course.

Not that I am one to say I told you so... but man this is all I meant when I expressed doubt in this thread that contacting the Tiger Woods Foundation would do any good... and that Tiger would get involved....

Here is the email I just received from them:

Thank you for your interest in the Tiger Woods Foundation. At this time all of our efforts are focused on our own projects, programs and events. If this should ever change we will post such information on our website www.tigerwoodsfoundation.org. However, we do wish you great success.

Sincerely,

Tiger Woods Foundation

It's just not in their interest to get involved.

So Slag, did you have any better success?

A new story runs tonight on the local ABC station tonight.  Below is the link to the print version with some good photos.

http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/sports/pro/golf&id=6960713

This has to be one of the most complicated land use issues ever involved in the golf course.  The following parties are involved.

City of Pacifica
Pacifica Planning Commission
County of San Mateo

Three different departments of the City of San Francisco,
(Board of Supervisors, Park and Rec department, Audit & Oversite Committee)

Golden Gate National recreation area - (Federal Park)
US Fish and Wildlife
SF Neighborhood Park Council
SF Public Golf Alliance
Public Golf Foundation
Sharp Park Golf Club (370 members)

ALL OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS
Sierra Club
Center for Biological Diversity - (extremisist enviromental organization)
San Francisco Tomorrow
Golden Gate Audubon Society
Sequoia Audubon Society
Pacifica Shorebird Alliance
San Francisco League of Conservation Voters
The Yerba Buena Chapter of the California Native Plant Society
Action for Animals
Transportation for a Livable City

The saga should be played out over the next few months.
