Bill H - glad to see we have another ex-Upstate NY'er.

I actially was at Seven Oaks last week. Routing wise I thinks it's fantastic. Not to many places where you can actually get lost changing directions. The greens are old push ups that has a lot of movement.

Not crazy about the repetative stream crossings on the front, gets a little old, but it's a very fun course and good work from RTJ Sr

One that no one has listed for Jones Sr (and very few have played) would be Playa Grande in the D.R.  It's the last course he built.

I played it a few years ago.  The holes on the ocean cliffs are outstanding and the views are second to none.  If someone went in there and made some changes, (i.e. - new strain of grass on the greens, and new bunkers) the course could be one of the best in the Caribbean.

How about Eugene CC for RTJ Sr?  Haven't played it, but he apparently flipped the tees and greens and made the course a lot better.

Senior - Spyglass, Mauna Kea

Junior - Chambers Bay

Rees - no originals that stand out

I feel the same way about Rees Jones. I can't think of any of his courses that I would go out of my play to play.

He has several designs here in Virginia Beach: Honey Bee GC, Hells Point GC, that don't really stand out.

Scott:

There are a few layouts worth "go(ing) out of my (your) way" to play -- Olde Kinderhook in NY by Rees is most certainly one of them.

Gets as much attention as a CIA operative on this board and as I said recently given what I have played in all of The Empire State OK would certainly make a strong case for being among the top 10 in NY. Given the nature of other Rees layouts that have been rated the omission of OK shows clearly to me the ignorance of plenty of people who should know better.

At Atlanta Athletic Club, Robert Trent Jones and Rees Jones[ redesign in 1996] had their hands on the Highlands Course.
4 to 5 shots harder since the redo! Rees also redesigned the Riverside Course[2003], and changed the flow of the course to make it the 2nd toughest rated course in the Greater Atlanta area....Highlands is #1!

I liked the Highlands course [see my post above], even though I found the par 3's too repetitive (and incredibly difficult).  The zoysia fairways were very interesting.

I thought Shady Oaks was a very enjoyable layout, especially the beginning and ending holes.  I wish we have played the par 3 course.

I too pt Spyglass at the top of the Sr ladder. I too also have chambers at the top of my Jr list. My hat is off toe Jay Blasi for his great work and creativity there. Bruce Carleton is a big part of many quality projects arund the world in recetn years. I also have struggled with finding anything that Reees has done that is more than average. Atlantic is a solid course but is painfully poor compared to its neighbors.
