Updated: Mini-Event at Lake Presidential Now Set For 9/30
« on: August 05, 2009, 01:05:56 PM »
Lake Presidential Golf, in Upper Marlboro, MD, has won some recent rankings accolades -- 2008 Golf Magazine Top 10 New Public, Golf Digest Best in State, etc. -- but I haven't had a chance to play it, and was thinking about organizing an event out there for Mid-Atlantic GCA'rs:  perhaps a single round (with an option to play 36) sometime in August or September, probably on a weekend.  But before I do anything more I wanted to gauge whether there's any interest in doing something like this .... and if so, what you'd prefer (weekend/weekday, etc.).

Here's a link to their site.  www.lakepresidential.com

Carl, I too would like to see Lake Presidential and would enjoy a GCA group.  During the week would likely be best for me but understood if weekends worked better for the majority.

Using Dulles for my trip to Walker and Crump Cups. Maybe, only if it really works with my plans.

I don't know much about it, other than it's a new public in DC, people at GD and Golf Mag seem to like something about it, and word on the street is that it's pretty good.  A new, supposedly good public course in DC is, IMO, worth at least one visit.

BTW: If you guys ever want to come out to Norbeck just let me know - I think it's a fun course and very walkable.

You may want to contact Doug Barton with Landmark Land about making arrangements. Doug is a GCA "Lurker" who would probably welcome the publicity. I have also had conversations with Troy Miller, one of the architects who worked on the design of the course. I visited Doug and played the course last year just after it opened and really enjoyed it.

If Rob Waldron liked it it must be okay. The featured picture on its website was a turnoff.

Carl, just make a tee time and we'll come.  Especially if it's a Sunday.

Put me down as a maybe. In other words, having gone once, Lake Presidential is good enough for a return visit.

Would September 8 or 9 work for some or all of those who are interested?  I looks like one or more of the designers would be available to talk to us about the course on those days.
